About the JobAssistant Professor - Cardiopulmonary, Division of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Science, Department of Family Medicine & Community HealthAcademic Track teaching faculty position, for the Division of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science at the University of Minnesota Medical School. The position is full time, 12-month.Job Duties/Responsibilities:60% Teaching and Mentoring: Successful candidates will have experience and passion for teaching and contemporary clinical practice knowledge in area of cardiopulmonary physical therapy and acute care to meet current DPT program teaching needs. Candidates may contribute to direct teaching and student mentoring in additional areas of content expertise or program needs, as well as coordinating content experts in courses where needs exist. Faculty will mentor a DPT student scholarship group through the PT 8193 research series annually.10% Faculty Development: Candidates should have foundational training in education, and a variety of pedagogical methods which inform teaching and mentorship. Capacity to assess and intervene with associated and core faculty who employ a broad range of experience and approaches to teaching.10% Scholarship: The faculty member will contribute to the scholarly mission of the Division, including pursuing a defined research/scholarship agenda in their selected area of expertise. Commitment to mentorship of the next generation of clinical scientists is expected, overlapping with teaching.10% Service: All faculty contribute to committee and professional service, faculty governance of the DPT program, as well as the Department, Medical School, and University. Experienced faculty are expected to provide mentorship to junior faculty and provide leadership within the broader University.10% Clinical {ractice: Clinical practice in cardiopulmonary physical therapy (contracted via MPhysicians) is expected to ensure applicants maintain clinical expertise and Board Certification eligibility through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsRequired Qualifications:The position requires a physical therapy degree with eligibility for Minnesota licensure. An earned DPT and clinical board certification in cardiopulmonary physical therapy is required. Preference will be given to applicants with prior academic experience; a history of scholarly publications, strong interpersonal skills, a team-based philosophy, and commitment and passion for the profession of physical therapy and its ongoing advancement to benefit care provision and patient outcomes for the diverse populations we serve. Candidates should have a demonstrated capacity for academic collaboration.Ideal candidates will have passion for improving the diversity of the physical therapy professional community, a demonstrated commitment to inclusive, trauma-informed teaching, supporting antiracism efforts, and supporting students to success.
