The Optical Field Service and Operations Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining advanced optical and fiber-optic systems at customer sites, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime. Installation and Setup:

Install, configure, and test fiber-optic networks and equipment, including optical transmission systems, wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) devices, amplifiers, and optical switches. Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on optical laser systems to ensure optimal performance, quickly identifying issues and implementing corrective actions. Field Service:

Travel to customer sites to install, inspect, repair, and upgrade optical networking equipment, collaborating closely with clients to resolve issues and minimize downtime. System Upgrades:

Conduct hardware and software upgrades for optical networking systems, ensuring compatibility and optimizing performance when integrating new equipment. Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, issue reports, service logs, and detailed documentation of equipment configurations and repair histories. Customer Support:

Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client concerns, explaining system functionalities, and ensuring client satisfaction post-installation, including support and training as needed. Compliance and Safety:

Adhere to industry standards and safety protocols during installations and repairs, ensuring compliance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements. Technical Expertise:

Stay updated on the latest developments in optical networking technologies and best practices, participating in continuous training and skill enhancement programs.

Profile

Qualifications:

Education:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; relevant certifications in fiber optics (e.g., CFOT, FOA) are a plus. Experience:

2-5 years of experience in optical network installations, troubleshooting, and field service operations; familiarity with WDM systems, optical amplifiers, and fiber-optic testing tools preferred.

Technical Skills:

Proficient in using fiber-optic testing tools such as Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDRs), power meters, and light sources. Strong understanding of optical laser systems preferred. Familiarity with network management systems (NMS) and remote monitoring tools.

Soft Skills:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and effective problem-solving capabilities.
