JVS is a non-profit, non-sectarian agency. Our mission is to empower individuals from diverse communities to find employment and build careers and to partner with employers to hire, develop, and retain productive workforces. JVS provides a broad range of services, including adult education, skills training, job readiness training, job placement and support, and access to post-secondary education. JVS assists employers in their search for well-qualified job applicants and their initiatives to upgrade the skills of their incumbent workforce.

POSITION SUMMARY: JVS MassHire Downtown Boston seeks a Career Navigator to deliver innovative, customer-focused, and technology-driven career services and work readiness programming. This role is instrumental in empowering returning citizens and individuals recovering from substance use disorder to re-enter the workforce. The Career Navigator will work within a team to facilitate workshops for the Paths to Empowerment (P2E) program, an intensive three-week job readiness course using best practices, and the provided program curriculum.

The Career Navigator will collaborate closely with program participants from diverse backgrounds and levels of experience. This collaborative approach is key to conducting successful job searches or enrolling in vocational training programs, as well as providing 1:1 career coaching and encouragement. The Career Navigator will also collaborate with multiple training providers, coordinators, and P2E facilitators to assist program participants in taking the necessary next steps toward permanent employment and stability.

This position is located at 75 Federal Street, Boston, MA.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Accountability and Results-Focused:
• Screen, enroll, and facilitate the P2E program on a rotating basis to assist returning citizens and individuals in recovery with re-entry into the workforce.
• Deliver professional-quality workshops that demonstrate knowledge of adult education techniques and utilize technology for maximum engagement for internal and external partners. • Instruct and train P2E program participants in workplace readiness, resume writing, interview practice, and online job applications.
• Participate in meetings and planning sessions with other P2E facilitators to monitor services and implement strategies to improve performance and delivery of service. • Establish, track, and meet program dashboard indicators using the Massachusetts One-Stop Employment System database (MOSES) and the Falling Colors database. Build relationships, Collaboration, and Teamwork:
• Support and promote the mission and philosophy of JVS, MassHire Downtown Boston, and the ATR program, both internally and outside the agency. • Function as a part of the ATR, JVS, and MassHire team to provide high-quality employment services.
• Demonstrate ability to teach job search skills, resume writing skills, and interviewing techniques to multicultural diverse populations.
• Demonstrate ability to interact within a team environment and maintain harmonious relationships with critical stakeholders (participants, colleagues, partner organizations, funders, etc.) • Provide individual 1:1 Coaching as required to respond to job seekers' questions about their career/job search and assess customer's needs.
• Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and team-based projects.
• Help fellow team members as needed. Administrative/Communication: • Understand and promote policies and best practices of the Massachusetts One-Stop Career Center Charter.
• Demonstrate a professional demeanor with solid customer service skills.
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing with compassion and professionalism. • Exercise discretion in handling confidential information.
• Apply learned skills to consistently update program participant information within the Falling Colors database and other commonly used software platforms.
• Participate in meetings, in-service training, and professional development workshops/webinars.
• Demonstrate genuine care and respect for P2E program participants to foster a relationship of reciprocity.
• Communicate regularly with the Supervisor to ensure the smooth delivery of services.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested. Content Management/Group Dynamics: • Manage instructional materials (i.e., participant manual and folder contents, slide deck, shared • documents, videos, etc.)
• Understand routines for handling materials and supplies and distribute them to program participants, answering any clarifying questions they may have.
• Provide activity instructions in multiple modalities so that learners are oriented to materials and are clear about activity instructions.
• Engage program participants around diverse issues throughout the day as connected to the lesson, including activities and regular points of discussion at an appropriate level. Presentation and Facilitation:
• Check for understanding and feedback consistently and adjust content and delivery based on feedback from participants.
• Effectively and consistently use knowledge of participants' various learning styles in instructional planning and delivery.
• When needed, make appropriate adjustments to lessons to improve learning.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• 2-4 years of experience in the facilitating/teaching/career coaching field • Knowledge of web-based job search resources and techniques required.
• Exceptional level of computer/technology proficiency, including the ability to complete online job applications and maintain accurate records of services provided in databases.
• Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills required.
• Experience working with returning citizens and individuals in recovery is a plus.
• Experience or knowledge in the addiction recovery or mental health-related field is a plus. • Knowledge of Criminal Offender Record a plus.
• Bilingual speaker a plus
