Position Description
Applied Medical is seeking a Paralegal to join our team. As a Paralegal, you will be responsible for providing support for a broad range of legal activities including, but not limited to, judgment enforcement, contract, immigration, and corporate matters. This position will receive cross training to support contracts, litigation, and personnel legal functions.
The essential functions for this role include working collaboratively with company management and the Legal Department to support the following activities:
- Prepare civil case filings, attend hearings, and pursue judgment enforcement.
- Support litigation efforts and manage various docket-related action items.
- Track contract flow, renewals, and termination dates, and provide updates to the team.
- Draft letters and agreements for various business groups and update electronic database to reflect agreement terms.
- Maintain and file corporate records, including organizational documents, minutes, annual reports, and stock certificates.
- Process immigration cases, including compiling immigration eligibility documents, liaising with internal stakeholders, track filing dates and maintaining case files in electronic database.
- Provide general administrative support, including editing, formatting, copying, scanning, and filing.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by the Legal department.
First 30 days
- Focus on learning about the company and your role.
- Complete all company and department-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) and trainings.
- Learn about your team structure and the individuals who are part of it.
- Discover the systems that are used in the company.
- Understand the processes that the company follows.
- Understand legal processes for contracts, corporate governance, stock register, immigration filings, and litigation.
- Facilitate immigration and litigation filings with support from Legal team.
- Draft template agreements with guidance from the Legal team.
- Process immigration and litigation filings.
- Process stock register and certificates.
- Process judgement enforcement and maintain updated case files.
- Draft and review agreements with guidance as needed.
- Analyze and elevate legal risks and issues as appropriate.
This position requires the following skills and attributes:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience with strong academic credentials
- ABA approved Paralegal certificate preferred
- 1 - 2 years of full-time legal experience, primarily supporting litigation and contract activities. Ideal candidate has experience in both areas, but company will train, as needed
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal clients at all levels
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and accurately under tight deadlines
- Knowledge of civil litigation and immigration process
- Knowledge of contract documents and concepts
- Strong drafting skills and attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Consistent and reliable work ethic
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
- Robust computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to learn the use of contract management software
- Competitive compensation range: $25 - $32 / hour (California).
