Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal to support our Legal Department and assist the General Counsel in various legal, operational, and administrative functions. This role is critical in enhancing legal processes, managing contracts, conducting legal research, and improving legal operations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with legal intake management and serve as the first point of contact for requests to the Legal Department.
- Draft legal documents, templates, and correspondence to improve operational efficiency and facilitate legal matters.
- Conduct legal research, summarize findings, and prepare reports for General Counsel.
- Assist General Counsel with contract management process improvement and implementation, including performing due diligence and documentation of existing processes, gathering and developing requirements for process improvement and assisting with implementation
- Facilitate contract review workflows and enforce contract management-related policies.
- Support contract owners in administering the contract lifecycle, including renewals and terminations.
- Review contracts under the supervision of General Counsel and serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on company template agreements and generate contract templates on request.
- Act as a primary point of contact for contract-related inquiries.
- Assist the General Counsel in researching and identifying an effective contract management system, lead its implementation, training on the new process and the system, and implementing of new templates into system.
- Assist in executing routine compliance tasks, including conducting exclusion checks as required by federal regulations and customer contracts.
- Contribute to vendor questionnaires and support the renewal of annual corporate filings.
- Develop and enforce legal department policies.
- Assist in the development of training materials related to legal processes and compliance.
- Support the General Counsel in conducting training sessions.
- Identify opportunities for legal operations process improvements.
- Identify and liaise with third-party vendors to enhance legal department efficiency.
- Act as a liaison between the legal department and other internal teams, external counsel, customers, and vendors.
- Manage legal department administration, including vendor management, invoice processing, and other operational tasks.
- Track ongoing legal matters, generate reports, and ensure prioritization and accountability within the department.
- Provide administrative support to the General Counsel as needed.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- 8+ years experience as paralegal or similar role (for example; legal assistant, contract manager), with at least 5 years in an in-house legal setting.
- Paralegal certification a plus.
- 5+ years experience with drafting and reviewing software/IT contracts.
- 5+ years experience with contract management.
- 3+ years experience working in healthcare or medical device industry.
- Proficient in using and administering a contract management solution.
- Experience implementing a contract management solution is major plus.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively, individually or collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced, environment.
- Self-motivated with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
