THE POSITION:
The Domestic Violence (DV) Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the intersection of Coordinated Entry System (CES) services and DV services in SPA 2, providing technical assistant to both systems. The DV Coordinator will be responsible for training, facilitation, and direct support of households seeking assistance who are experiencing DV and homelessness. The DV Coordinator takes on the coordination of these systems, and actively supports direct service staff to connect households appropriately by providing training and guidance. The position requires the incumbent to make sound decisions and practice independent judgement on a regular ongoing basis with little to no supervision, while acting in the best interest of LAFH and participants served.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Train Program teams working with actively fleeing families in the following areas:
- Daily bed assessment within LA County – access to DV bed availability information
- Transportation to new SPA when DV bed is located
- Attend and facilitate regular meetings with DV providers in SPA 2
- Attend regular meetings for CES in SPA 2
- Attend system-focused meetings on DV and CES intersection
- Provide guidance to staff in creating safety plans for actively fleeing households
- Train CES staff in safety plans for current CES-engaged households
- Provide ongoing safety planning training to CES staff
- Provide staff with ongoing trauma-informed practice consultation around DV
- Provide ongoing CES training to DV providers

WHAT YOU’RE SKILLED AT:
- In-depth knowledge of the intricate challenges of Domestic Violence
- Knowledge of the Domestic Violence and Intimate Partner Violence system in LA County
- Knowledge of Homeless Services in LA County
- Knowledge of the Critical Time Intervention (CTI) service model
- Knowledge of and familiarity with Harm Reduction concepts and strategies
- Strong interpersonal skills, cultural competence, and ability to employ sensitivity in building rapport with clientele
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent public speaking skills
- Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
- Bilingual: Spanish/English preferred, but not required
- Maintain and execute confidential information according to HIPPA standards
- Obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification
- Ability to pass post-offer Tuberculosis (TB) clearances
- Travel is a regular duty for this position and is required 25-30% of the time
- Use of a personal vehicle to travel between worksites and other locations is required
- Must have and maintain a valid California Driver’s License and insurance in good standing
- Ability to work a 9/80 work schedule
WHAT YOU’VE ACCOMPLISHED:
- Bachelor’s degree in social services with three (3) years of experience in social services. Master’s degree preferred, but not required. Degree can be substituted with five (5) years’ experience
