Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibilities include but are not limited to):
- Obtains instructions on how the banquet is to be set up. Follows event orders exactly with a strong attention to detail.
- Communicates all pertinent information to the banquets team.
- Makes sure all elements of a banquet are set up: Sets up all necessary banquet supplies.
- Assists with transporting food/beverages to event location.
- Ensures that banquet space is prepared prior to events performing or directing such activities as arranging stages and podiums, buffet service set-up functions, or assembling a dance floor.
- Maintains banquet rooms, hallways, storage, and service areas in clean and excellent condition.
- Follows established safety and security policies and procedures including reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions immediately to a supervisor.
- Offers warm and sincere welcome/farewell to all guests using a guest's name, when possible, and making good eye contact.
- Provides general resort information for guests; upsells other services and amenities.
- Remains alert, courteous, and helpful to guests and team members at all times; resolves complaints in a diplomatic and levelheaded manner quickly, professionally, and effectively during events.
- Maintains constant awareness of services, promotions, and events offered by Casino Del Sol Resort to inform guests.
- Follows established procedures for lost and found articles.
- Tears down banquet space after events: Assists with clearing of tables; ensures that all equipment is torn down and supplies put away; removes centerpieces/décor and stores appropriately; removes soiled linens and arranges for cleaning; and ensures proper handling, cleaning and sanitation of equipment, china, glass, and silver.
- Confers with department head to review achievements and discuss needed changes in goals or objectives.
- Ensures uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of event standards, practices, and procedures as well as food and beverage products, services, and equipment.
- Knowledge of the different types of banquet room setups.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as well as Casino Del Sol Resort's internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software, especially word processing application.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Skill in working courteously with the public as well as developing and maintaining strong working relationships.
- Ability to interact well with guests and team members.
- Ability to effectively multitask with an attention to detail.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to resolve complaints in a diplomatic and levelheaded manner.
- Ability to stand for most of a shift.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that may be stressful at times.
- Ability to stoop, bend, walk, reach objects above shoulder height, and use hands.
- Ability to lift or move one hundred (100) pounds, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Experience as a Banquet Houseman in a hospitality environment OR any combination of academic education, professional training, or work experience in a similar roll in a comparably.
- Must either possess or obtain valid Food Handler's card and ServSafe certification within three (3) months of employment.
- Must be able to lift or move one hundred (100) pounds, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, special events, and overtime, as needed.
- Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
- Must be able to obtain, maintain, and retain a non-valid gaming license.
- High School or General Equivalency Diploma
