Position Summary

The School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated student with excellent customer service skills to join the Office of Faculty Affairs and Career Development. The ideal candidate must be willing to work in a fast paced, high volume office. To be successful in this position, the candidate must have strong skills composing and editing materials. The candidate should have excellent computer and technology skills and the initiative to explore new technology systems. Organizational skills, attention to detail, positive attitude, and willingness to learn and work in a team environment are essential to this position.

Duties are as follow:

• Answers phone, routes calls, takes messages, and provides general information; greets and directs visitors; answers routine inquiries; maintains log of inquiries as required.
• Performs a variety of routine typing assignments as appropriate to the position; draft basic correspondence, enter data, and download letters, labels, reports, and/or other materials. This position will also provide editing support to review highly visible correspondence, to include Promotion & Tenure posters, Presentation materials, and Event materials.
• Establishes, maintains, processes, and/or updates electronic files, records, and/or other documents.
• May perform specialized services of a routine clerical/administrative nature in strict accordance with established procedural guidelines, as appropriate to the position.
• May schedule or assist in scheduling appointments, meetings, and/or conferences, as appropriate to the position.
• Opens and routes incoming mail; distributes correspondence and other material to department staff/faculty.
• Assist with departmental events.
• May run various routine errands as required for the unit/department, which includes weekly visits to the office to ensure all hard copy correspondence are received and distributed.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
