Job Summary

The Executive Director of ERP Business Functions is a key leadership team member responsible for the successful implementation of the ERP system for a multi-year period. The program's scope includes technology and business transformation for the UCSF organization, including the healthcare system and campus. Business functions in the program's scope include Financial Management, Supply Chain, Human Capital Management, Research Grants/Awards Management, and Student Information Systems.

This position will work remotely; if there is a need for travel to the San Francisco area, travel, and lodging will be covered by the organization.

The position serves in the ERP implementation governance as the Business Program Owner leading the business transformation and functional leadership work across UCSF, partnering with the Technical Program Owner to manage governance and decision-making structures guiding ERP systems design. The Business and Technical Program Owners will collaborate with the Program Leads and Project Teams on project management and change management activities and oversee health and campus communications related to the ERP implementation program. For both campus and health, this Executive Director ERP Business Functions would report through the Senior Vice Chancellor Office (SVCO).

For the business transformation/ERP program, this role conceptualizes and implements initiatives to advance the Senior Vice Chancellor's (SVC) program vision and priorities for business transformation. This role provides advice, guidance, and assistance to executives and their direct reports to develop organizational policies. The position provides organization-wide influence on identifying and framing systemic issues related to the institution's ERP design and implementation. The role leads, oversees, and/or participates in the functional design of the systems; ensures efficient re-structuring of work and staffing; obtains appropriate advice and resources in planning and implementation stages (HR, OD, Legal, Facilities, Budget, Finance, etc.). Additionally, the position develops and reviews items for the program's executive sponsors; formulates recommendations; presents options and drafts communications related to the program's decisions and outcomes. The Executive Director Business Functions represents the organization in location-wide and systemwide meetings and discussions related to ERP and oversees the program's communication and reporting.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $189,700 - $335,800 (Annual Rate).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience working with R1 Research University, with 8 to 10 years of demonstrated progressive responsibilities and documented achievement in ERP implementations. Experience with Academic Medical Center is considered valuable.
  • Ability to travel to UCSF locations as needed
  • Demonstrated skills in team building, creating a shared vision, and managing high-functioning teams
  • Knowledge of the organizational environment of higher education and large research universities to understand client priorities, issues, motivations and constraints.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix environment, particularly in cross-functional teams across multiple lines of workstreams and business, over whom there may be no direct authority.
  • Encourages and facilitates cooperation, results orientation, and collaboration amongst the team.
  • Experience implementing Oracle Cloud ERP platform, especially for Finance, Human Resources, Supply Chain/Procurement, Research Grants, and Student Information System business functions
  • Ability to develop strong partnerships with the business community. Self-motivated and a problem solver who can assess and develop strategies for achieving the user community's needs.
  • Drives operational efficiency and identifies, documents, and monitors key business processes within the ERP scope needed to achieve successful business results.
  • Analyze, map, and document the process and develop a framework for standardization and improvement.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Ability to speak to business and technical-level staff and develop written reporting and presentational content with level-appropriate messaging up to and including the senior executive level.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree.
  • Knowledge of the legal constraints and opportunities for higher education in the State of California and through Federal programs and regulations.
