Job Highlights
The Procurement Manager's primary objective is to create a competitive advantage and limit exposure for LANXESS through managing and directing procurement activities for all technical goods and services for El Dorado, Little Rock, St. Charles and Baytown production sites. The incumbent must:
- Collaborate with business units and group functions to identify opportunities to develop and implement strategic initiatives that result in significant cost reduction.
- Manage all capital project procurement including effective risk management and mitigation of these capital projects.
- Manage and direct a group of site procurement professionals, including capital procurement manager at site.
- Liaise with Corporate LANXESS category managers to identify sourcing synergies.
- Fully understand the business unit and/or group function's requirements in order to ensure effective negotiations for appropriate contract terms, conditions and pricing.
- Negotiate terms and conditions which limit LANXESS' financial and legal risks, and which are enforceable under the applicable law of contract.
- Resolve problems dealing with interpretation of existing contracts which may have significant financial impact (i.e. meet/release conditions, tier discounts, price formula analysis).
- Bachelor's degree in a related field. Engineering or Chemistry degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in a broad range of technical procurement (maintenance, construction, mechanical, electrical, etc) is needed.
- Ability to travel up to 40% of the time dependent on business needs.
- Specific negotiation skills required with the ability to influence and persuade individuals at all levels of the LANXESS organization to gain support for key procurement initiatives with high business impact of supplier failure. Proven organizational skills to manage multiple projects and bids simultaneously, with minimal supervision.
