Distribution Tech - No Experience Required
Position Summary
The Distribution Technician, while observing all safety regulations, maintains and repairs all TWC water distribution lines; aids in installing, maintaining and repairing auxiliary equipment used in transmission, distribution, and metering.
Specific Responsibilities
The ability to learn TWC operations and proper terminology in order to prepare for the appropriate certifications is required.
Assist with general maintenance on all water distribution services and mains
Assist in installation of fire hydrants, adjusting fire hydrants, valve boxes, and meter boxes
Repair fire hydrants
Drive pickup truck and medium to heavy equipment to and from job site
Drive light to medium equipment including but not limited to jackhammer, backhoe, rock saw, Bobcat front end loader and related equipment.
Assists other crew members to open ground
Install, remove and reset water meters, check valves, cut-off valves of all sizes
Assist in repairs of water line, meter, and water tap leaks and breaks
Aid in service taps
Ensure that the assigned vehicle is clean, stocked and maintained with necessary supplies and equipment
Responsible for maintenance of tools and equipment
Set up proper barricades
Safety awareness
Is available for shift work, standby, after-hours work, weekends and holidays
Perform all duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Ability to perform tasks safely and efficiently; must be able to adjust well to new methods and situations.
Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
Ability to interface with the public.
Required Education and Experience
A valid Texas Driver's License with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
High school/GED degree preferred, but not required, at time of hire.
Other Requirements
Physical activities include lifting, bending, squatting, reaching, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions; position requires the use of heavy weight tools and materials.
