PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop school health education programs and services for grades kindergarten through 12th and implement School Based Health Services. Develop and implement an HIV Aids, Drug Education and Health Education Program and Curriculum. Conduct school programs of immunization, physical examinations, and sight and hearing testing by the given timeline. Observe students regularly to detect health needs. Instruct teachers on screening students for health defects. Maintain up-to-date cumulative health records on all students. Report as the need arises, to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics and other agencies on student health records on all students. Participate in filling out time study for Medicaid reimbursement. Assume authority, in the absence of a physician, for the care of student or staff member who has suffered an injury or emergency illness. Administer first aid per established first aid procedures. Make recommendations to school officials on health needs of individual students. Implement the policy on exclusions and re-admissions of students concerning infectious and contagious diseases. Assist school personnel in maintaining sanitary standards in schools. Provide in-service training programs/conduct presentations in Drug-Free, Health, Child and Substance Abuse, Nutrition, and Wellness programs as well as First Aid/CPR Training. Comply with competencies for Nurses and Health Instructors as approved by the State Board of Education. Participate in the Student Assistance Team Committee process, curriculum alignment, benchmarks, performance standards/assessments, and implementation of EPSS. Participate in Parental Involvement and Safety Plans. Attend assigned E.A. & R. Special Education meetings and provide input on IEPs. Log all outgoing long-distance telephone calls and fax transmittals. Write proposals for grant funding. Administer Group Standardized Tests per district testing program.(Applicable in Instruction) Administer the Language Assessment Scales Testing and Scoring in both English and Spanish. ( Applicable to Instructor) Attend board meetings as requested by the Superintendent or his/her authorized Designee. Perform all other assigned tasks required by the supervisor(s).
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work schedule and hours as per district needs.
SALARY: $28/hourly rate
EVALUATION: The performance of this job will be evaluated following provisions of the adopted Board policies.
Must have a PED Nursing License or able to obtain.
