Metals USA -- Gregor Technologies Division is seeking a Junior Buyer in Torrington, CT. Metals USA -- Gregor Technologies Division is a solid, growth-oriented manufacturing company with three and five axis machining, turning, fabrication and contract assembly that supports the scientific instrumentation, commercial, medical equipment, and high-speed mailing industries.
The Junior Buyer is responsible to procure material for non-metal components needed for midsize manufacturing assemblies; to include harnessing, power supplies, motors, boards, and all outsourced parts. The Buyer will procure a reliable flow of materials.
Responsibilities: Manages all stages of sourcing projects from the initial plan to completion. Administers purchasing functions so that all production materials are delivered after full consideration of price, quality, service and financial stability of the vendor. Negotiates the price, quality, delivery, discounts and returns with the suppliers in an approved ethical manner and in compliance with company policy and governmental regulations. Administers purchase orders for various metal materials, prioritizes work orders by delivery dates and meets customer delivery requirements. Maintains records/files on the supply base and items purchased such as quotes, supplier quality, and supplier performance and item cost. Communicates with Quality Assurance to resolves quality concerns between the supplier and customer. Assists with the satisfactory resolution of complaints and material discrepancies. Processes supplier rejects in a timely manner and obtains corrective actions as required. Communicates and evaluates current & prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation, logistics, inventory control and management. Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a Purchasing Buyer. Adheres to Reliance Steel and Aluminum's Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements. Performs other related duties as assigned. Physical Demands:

Stand, walk, sit, hearing, talking, use of hands and fingers, hand-eye coordination, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend May be required to travel for business as needed Regularly required to work on multiple concurrent tasks with constant interruptions Lift, carry, push and/or pull up to a maximum of 25 lbs. without assistance Bachelor Degree in Business Administration or 1 plus years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing enviorment. Ability to interface effectively with all departments to foster a success-oriented, accountable organization. Ability to communicate both oral & written effectively with internal & external vendors and customers. Ability to negotiate and sources both ferrous and non-ferrous metal. Ability to collect data, establish facts and purchase metals to ensure inventory goals are met and maintain accurate lead times. Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex business documents. Represents the management in a highly professional manner, exercises diplomacy and maintains the highest level of confidentiality. Computer Literacy; Microsoft Office Products and ERP.
