Terracon is seeking to hire a
Project Manager Assistant – Asbestos, IH & Environmental Services
to support our CT, MA, and RI operations
. We work on exciting projects including commercial, transportation, energy, and federal projects throughout New England and New York state. This position is for an experienced professional who will be responsible for assisting in the planning, scheduling and execution of various environmental services assignments on projects varying in size and complexity. The successful candidate will be eager to learn and grow into all phases of environmental consultation including asbestos-hazardous building materials assessments and environmental site assessments.
General Responsibilities:
Experienced operator of field monitoring/sampling equipment, and ability to perform tests and sampling of environmental materials including air, groundwater, building materials, and noise.
Assists with the planning, Project Management, and execution of Asbestos, Mold, other IH/IAQ surveys and abatement/remediation projects.
Assists with the planning, Project Management, and execution of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM Standard E1527-21; Phase II/Limited Site Investigations (LSI); and other Soil/Groundwater investigations.
Tabulate, present and interpret data; prepare written reports for senior-level review.
Adhere to strict quality and safety standards.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
As an Assistant Project Manager, obtains site access, public and private utility clearance, coordinates with various project stakeholders, and schedules drillers, laboratories, and other subcontractors for Phase I, Phase II or ACM/IH work.
Independently performs routine and non-routine field testing on a variety of projects.
Performs site visits, observations, screenings and surveys for the presence of hazardous building materials and subsurface contamination. Screenings may include collection of samples.
Sample suspect asbestos-containing building materials in accordance with AHERA guidelines.
Perform oversight and air monitoring during asbestos abatement projects.
Perform construction oversight, soil sampling, groundwater monitoring and well sampling.
Proficiency in completing all aspects of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs):
Review previous assessment reports, historical and regulatory records for the property and for the surrounding area and reports data in accordance with ASTM criteria and/or client's scope of work.
Conduct interviews with appropriate project stakeholders and government officials to obtain information concerning the environmental conditions related to the property and adjacent properties.
Write reports which accurately convey the environmental assessment and provide exhibits and photos which illustrate or clarify information presented in the body of the report.
Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
Requirements:
BS/BA degree in Environmental Science, Geology, related science field; 3-5 years relevant professional experience.
Certification in field of expertise required including but not limited to
CT Asbestos Inspector,Other New England states desire
CT Asbestos Project Monitor, Other New England states desired
Asbestos Management Planner; Lead Risk Assessor; Mold Technician
Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history..
