Your Specific Responsibilities:
Supervisory employees are those who spend the majority of their time*communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, and planning and directing employees' work, and who have the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action, including all employees serving as supervisors, administrators, and directors. Section 110.205(2)(w), F.S.
Directs and randomly reviews and evaluates subunit work to determine if all work is compliant with established standards. Responds to inquiries from customers specific to assigned work processes. Responsible for authorization of leave and attendance records. Directs and prepares, writes, and utilizes new hire packages, position descriptions, performance appraisals, and procedural changes due to changes in the work of the unit, the Reemployment Assistance Law, and/or Code of Regulations.
Directs, plans, and organizes the activities of a professional staff engaged in an area of the reemployment assistance program. Selects and makes recommendations regarding hiring, dismissal, promotions, transfers, and other personnel actions affecting section staff. Determines criteria for staff needs, requisitions office equipment and other physical assets needed to ensure an efficient operation. Prepares and ensures uniformity of policies, instructions, directives, performance appraisals and other procedures for the section.
Reviews legislative proposals and enacted bills, Federal Department of Labor program letters, draft language, and any other published guidance regarding changes in the RA Law, regulations, policies, and procedures relative to their conformity to federal mandates, laws, and regulations and their possible effect on the reemployment assistance program and/or the Benefit Payment Control Section. Interprets the Florida Reemployment Assistance Law and Administrative Rules and directs the preparation of letters regarding these interpretations.
Works with representatives from all program areas, as needed to resolve issues relating to the reemployment assistance program. Identifies and analyzes problem areas and recommends any changes needed to improve and streamline existing procedures. Provides process improvement leadership.
Attends, conducts, organizes and participates in workshops, studies, conferences, staff meetings, and reviews pertaining to the quantity of work performed in specialized program areas.
Conduct research; provide expertise in the planning, analysis, design, development and implementation in multiple environments with multiple contract vendors of the new RA Claims & Benefits System.
Work directly with vendor business systems analysts, designers and developers to ensure business requirements are fully integrated into the new system and are traceable to the Requirements Design Document. Work with vendor testing analysts to ensure test scripts validate requirements.
Provide analysis and evaluation of design data of vendor design team and participate in test sessions with Department personnel to validate the systems meets requirements.
Acts in the absence and under the direction of the Benefits Services Consultant of Program Development and Support in administering Change Request Triage, Training developments, and RECONNECT development.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Senior Benefits Analysts-SES
is a member of the Quality Assurance-Program Development team of the Division of Workforce Services/Reemployment Assurance.
The incumbent of this position directs and administers highly technical reemployment assistance (RA) program functions. This is a highly responsible position requiring extensive knowledge of the Reemployment Assistance Law and department procedures relating to the RA program. The person in this position is responsible for providing instructions and taking necessary actions. The performance of these functions and their coordination is centralized for consistency and efficiency of operations. This is complex professional work requiring not only extensive knowledge of the Reemployment Assistance Law, regulations, policies, and procedures, but also the ability to plan, organize, coordinate and direct work assignments, and work cooperatively with others.
