Who We’re Looking For

Toyota’s OneTech Digital Supply Chain & Fulfillment Transformation team is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and highly motivated

Data Engineer

to support our Vehicle and Parts supply chain initiatives. This role will contribute to developing new technology capabilities that foster a data-driven culture, aligning with our vision of “Providing the right vehicle/parts to the right place at the right time.”

As a

Data Engineer,

you will play a key role in enhancing our data engineering practices. You will work hands-on with data pipelines, ETL processes, and data integration, closely collaborating with data scientists and business teams to derive business insights and support our transformation projects.

Reporting to the Group Manager Vehicle & Parts Supply Chain, the person in this role will support the Vehicle– Parts Supply Chains department's objective to increase NA vehicle/ parts supply chain efficiencies, find new sources of revenue, and accelerate their transformation and adoption of modern & emerging technologies/platforms.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Data Engineer within the Supply Chain & Fulfillment Transformation team, you will play a crucial role in transforming our data infrastructure to support business value creation by building and maintaining robust data pipelines and ETL processes.

Work with best-in-class open-source and visual tools, along with the most flexible and scalable deployment options, including Databricks, PySpark, pandas, polar, dask, and Alteryx.

Perform hands-on data manipulation, data transformation, and integration from multiple structured and unstructured data sources.

Collaborate closely with data scientists and business teams to derive actionable business insights and support transformation projects.

Solve complex technical issues by debugging, troubleshooting, designing, and implementing efficient data solutions.

Construct usable data sets that enable advanced analytics and machine learning models.

Thrive in a team environment, leveraging excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively.

Apply strong fundamentals in computer science and data engineering principles to develop scalable data solutions.

Demonstrate strong technical and analytical abilities, with a knack for driving impact and growth through data engineering.

Utilize programming and scripting skills in languages such as Python, and work with tools like Databricks, PySpark, and Alteryx.

Investigate and analyze data trends to support real-world problem-solving in various industries.

Uncover patterns in data and contribute to the preparation, analysis, and understanding of data to deliver insights and predict emerging trends.

Use a variety of data sources (structured, unstructured, IoT streaming) and analytics tools, often leveraging cloud infrastructure to handle large data volumes.

Formulate conclusions and recommendations based on data analysis, and communicate these to stakeholders using strong consulting, communication, visualization, and storytelling skills.

Implement and validate data models, ensuring their accuracy and reliability.

Communicate with internal and external clients to understand and define data engineering needs, providing robust solutions.

Use leading-edge tools and packages such as Python, pandas, PySpark, Alteryx, and other open-source tools to build and maintain data pipelines.

Mediate differing stakeholder opinions to ensure successful and stable outcomes when conflicts arise.

Work in an Agile, collaborative environment, partnering with data scientists, engineers, consultants, and database administrators to bring analytical rigor to data engineering challenges.

Develop efficient and reusable data integration processes and evaluate the results of data models.

Ask business and industry questions to identify appropriate data engineering techniques.

Collaborate with data owners/stewards and platform teams to ensure data quality and integrity.

Communicate results to both technical and non-technical audiences.

What You Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Statistics, or a related discipline.

Solid understanding of data engineering principles, including data manipulation, transformation, and integration.

Experience with data pipelines, ETL processes, and data integration from multiple structured and unstructured data sources.

Proficiency in Python and familiarity with data engineering tools such as Databricks, PySpark, pandas, polars, and dask.

Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear, precise, and actionable manner.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Self-motivated with a curiosity for data and a passion for deriving business insights.

Added Bonus If You Have

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Statistics, or a related discipline.

Knowledge and experience with the Automotive domain.

Experience with cloud computing environments such as AWS, GCP, or similar.

Experience with Databricks, Hadoop, and related big data technologies and/or NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and PostgreSQL.

Experience with ORM frameworks such as SQLAlchemy, Hibernate, or Entity Framework.

Advanced ORM techniques and database migration tools.

Experience with data visualization tools like Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly, D3.js, Tableau, or Power BI.
