Who We’re Looking For

Toyota’s OneTech Digital Supply Chain & Fulfillment Transformation team is looking for a passionate, dedicated, and highly motivated Vehicle & Parts supply chain Data Scientist who is an experienced technology leader, who will contribute towards developing new technology capabilities that support a data-driven culture over Vehicle & Parts new transformation initiatives & projects to enable the North American Vehicle & Parts Supply Chain Vision of “Providing the right vehicle /parts to the right place at the right time.”.

The Data Scientist will be a technology leader who will contribute towards enhancing our Data Science practices to the next level using a hands-on approach and a passion for deriving business insights through machine learning and deep learning.

This member should demonstrate strong initiative, technical leadership, relationship building, and influential communication skills, be well organized, and be able to work under pressure in addition to applying the principles of the Toyota Way.

Reporting to the Group Manager Vehicle & Parts Supply Chain, the person in this role will support the Vehicle– Parts Supply Chains department's objective to increase NA vehicle/ parts supply chain efficiencies, find new sources of revenue, and accelerate their transformation and adoption of modern & emerging technologies/platforms.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Data Scientist within the Supply Chain & Fulfillment Transformation, you will help transform our data into tangible business value by analyzing information, communicating outcomes, and collaborating on product development.

Work with Best-in-Class open source and visual tools, along with the most flexible and scalable deployment options.

Perform hands-on data manipulation, data transformation, feature engineering, hypothesis testing, and modeling.

You’re great at solving problems by looking at things differently, debugging, troubleshooting, designing & implementing solutions to complex technical issues.

Familiarity with constructing usable data sets from multiple structured and unstructured data sources.

You thrive on teamwork using excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong fundamentals in Mathematics and Computer Science (algorithms)

You have strong technical and analytical abilities, a knack for driving impact and growth, and some experience with programming/scripting in a language such as Python or R

You're proficient in at least one of the statistical programming languages, such as Python, PySpark, Scala, or R

Whether it’s investigating sales trends or demand patterns, you will work to solve real-world problems for the industries transforming how we live.

You uncover the stories hidden in data and find patterns in the numbers.

As a Data Scientist, you’ll put this skill to work to solve business problems by preparing, analyzing, and understanding data to deliver insight, predict emerging trends, and provide recommendations for better outcomes.

You’ll use a variety of data (structured, unstructured, IoT streaming), analytics, AI tools, and programming languages often using a cloud infrastructure to handle the volume and veracity of data streams.

Armed with data, modeling expertise, and analytic results, as a Data Scientist, you’ll formulate conclusions and recommendations to stakeholders in an organization's leadership structure, leveraging strong consulting, communication, visualization, and storytelling skills.

Implement and validate predictive models as well as create and maintain statistical models with a focus on big data.

You’ll incorporate a variety of statistical and machine-learning techniques.

Communicate with internal and external clients to understand and define business needs, providing analytical solutions.

Use leading-edge tools and packages such as Python, scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras combined with other open-source tools and AI application suites.

Given a conflict that jeopardizes the integrity of the solution, mediate differing stakeholder opinions to arrive at equitable resolutions that ensure successful and stable outcomes.

Work in an Agile, collaborative environment, partnering with other scientists, engineers, consultants, and database administrators of all backgrounds and disciplines to bring analytical rigor and statistical methods to the challenges of predicting behaviors.

Build teams or writing programs to cleanse and integrate data in an efficient and reusable manner, developing predictive or prescriptive models, and evaluating modeling results.

Ask business and industry questions to identify appropriate modeling techniques.

Communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences.

What You Bring

Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, or a related discipline

Solid understanding of Machine Learning and Statistics, including commonly used models and tests.

Data analysis and predictive modeling experience

Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Python, R, or similar coding skills

Added Bonus If You Have

PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, or a related discipline

Knowledge and experience with the Automotive domain.

Experience with AWS, GCP, or similar cloud computing environments

Experience with Databricks or Hadoop and related Big Data technologies

Tableau, D3, or other data visualization tools
