Reporting to the Director of Donor Relations and Fundraising Campaign Operations, the Development Officer, Stewardship is a key member of the Development team responsible for stewarding, retaining, and further cultivating the Museum's top donors. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in development or stewardship, with a demonstrated ability to create impactful donor experiences and manage high-profile events. This is a term position, and is scheduled to come to an end on June 30, 2028.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Donor Stewardship and Engagement

Together with the Director of Donor Relations and Fundraising Campaign Operations, develop and execute strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors, ensuring personalized and impactful engagement.

Collaborate with colleagues across the Museum to align stewardship activities with organizational goals and priorities. Identify and implement opportunities for donor engagement and acknowledgment. Work closely with colleagues in Learning and Community Engagement to stay current on upcoming and long-term programming plans, seeking opportunities to create special moments for Museum supporters with artists, curators, educators, and other luminaries in the art world. Enhance relationships between donors and MFA by recognizing donors in verbal, print and digital materials and with relevant correspondences and updates, exhibition catalogues, and, private visits, and special recognition events. Manage a portfolio of comprehensive endowment fund reports that detail performance, funding allocations, and impact, ensuring clarity and transparency for stakeholders. Maintain a menu of naming and funding opportunities. Oversee research into and monitoring of endowment funds to ensure that they are used in compliance with gift agreements; respond to regular internal queries regarding usage. Oversee tracking of all matters related to endowed positions including funding opportunities, funding gaps, vacancies, and donor touchpoints. General oversight of the MFA Benefactor Program, honoring the Museum's highest-level donors through events, recognition, and handling of special requests. Manage oversight of all related governance needs. Event Strategy

Work with Director of Donor Relations and Fundraising Campaign Operations to strategically plan and execute a portfolio of high-level events tied to gallery renovations, special exhibitions, endowed lectures and programs, and other special projects and initiatives.

Collaborate with the Special Events team in creating seamless experiences for MFA supporters. Partner with the Director of Special Events on exhibition-related opening events, including large-scale opening receptions and intimate dinners. Advise on guest list, draft Director's remarks, prepare seating charts, and brief the Director and relevant staff on event details and goals. Work closely with fundraisers, curators, and colleagues in building guest lists, ensuring alignment with the interests of the Museum's top donors and prospects. Other duties as assigned or required.

Qualification Requirements and Characteristics

Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of demonstrated experience in development, fundraising, or donor stewardship, with a focus on major gifts and event management. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Excellent project management and writing skills. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and prepare timely responses. Exceptional attention to detail. Creative and strategic thinker. Ability to handle delicate and confidential material. Poise, maturity, flexibility, initiative and ability to work both as a team player and independently. manage and have self-direction on projects is essential. Strong commitment to quality work, customer service, and high productivity. Ability to succeed in a complex and demanding environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Salary Range

Full-time Salary, 35 hours per week

Starting Salary: $62,000 - $65,000
