Assist the Safety Director in managing SBH Health System's Safety, Environment of Care and Emergency Management programs at the main hospital and affiliate facilities (MMTP, Ambulatory Care Building, Out-Patient Hemodialysis, Union Community Health Center, and Wellness Center to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
Promote a safe, cooperative and professional healthcare environment to ensure optimum patient care Adheres to all hospital polices, procedures, rules and regulations, including but not limited to, time and attendance, cellular phone usage, dress code and rules of conduct Makes customer service a priority, treating customers (patients, visitors and coworkers) in a professional manner, exercising courtesy and tact. Effectively communicated with patients and others about SBH Services in their area(s) of expertise or responsibility and ensures that concerns, questions or issues reach the right person(s) in SBH in a timely manner. Behaves in a manner consistent with maintaining and furthering a positive public perception of SBH Health System and its employees Assist the Safety Director in maintaining a safety program which meets and, where necessary exceeds City, State, Federal and Accreditation Agencies regulations in order to provide a workplace free of recognized hazards Act as a liaison between the Safety Director and other Department Heads to assure inter-departmental communication and exchange of information Assist the Safety Director in preparation for surveys for all regulatory agencies (TJC, OSHA, DOH, etc.). Keeping all documentation and reports up to date and closing open items Assist the Safety Director in coordinating, scheduling, and conducting training (OSHA, Environment of Care, The Right to Know, Hazardous Materials and Universal Waste, Fire Safety, Radiation Safety, Ergonomics, Emergency Management and new employee orientation Assist the Safety Director in conducting Emergency Preparedness and Fire Safety drills at all sites Manages and participates in multidisciplinary Environmental Safety/Infection Control rounds, including preparation and distribution of all environment of care rounds documentation Attends committee and management meetings as appropriate or requested by the Safety Director Maintain established hospital departmental policies and procedures Manage recordkeeping of all safety incident and accident reports Assist the Safety Director in enforcing safety regulations and codes Assure proper maintenance of department files and record keeping, contracts and reports Performs all related or additional duties as assigned The above statements reflect the general duties considered necessary to describe the principle functions of the job as identified, and shall not be considered as a detailed descriptions of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job
High School Diploma required, Bachelor's Degree preferred Minimum 10 years of Safety, Fire Safety and Emergency Management experience Knowledge of TJC, DOH, EPA, OSHA, FDNY and NFPA regulations FDNY Certificate of Fitness W07 Citywide Fire and Emergency Drill Conductor FDNY F01 Citywide Fire Guard for Impairment
