The Manager, Fleet Operations at Amgen will be responsible for managing general aspects of the fleet program.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager, Fleet Operations to help oversee our company's fleet program. The Manager will ensure all fleet program operations are implemented to support business needs. This role is essential for ensuring the efficient day-to-day operations and management of our fleet, which serves our field-based employees in US and Puerto Rico for Field Sales, Medical and Government Affairs. The Manager will collaborate closely with our third-party fleet management vendor to optimize fleet performance, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fleet management (working with a fleet vendor partner), implement with excellent attention to detail, and demonstrate exceptional communication and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities: Manage Fleet Lifecycle: Oversee the entire lifecycle of the company's fleet, from vehicle selection, procurement, registration, insurance, maintenance, repairs, and disposal

Vendor Collaboration: Ensure alignment on service agreements, performance metrics, and compliance with company standards

Operational Oversight: Monitor daily fleet operations, addressing issues related to vehicle performance, safety, and maintenance to ensure optimal functionality. Ensure compliance is being upheld for field staff and vendors

Monitoring: Continuous monitoring of fleet vehicles including long term rentals, cars on order and vehicles in storage to ensure optimal asset utilization and cost-efficiency. Ensure New Hires are assigned a vehicle and monitor vehicle deliveries with drive service. Ensure vehicles are picked up timely from terminated staff

Data Analysis & Reporting: Apply data analytics to assess fleet performance, generate reports, and present findings to senior management. Make data-driven recommendations for improvements

Driver Safety: Establish and enforce driver safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards. Partner with EH&S (Environmental Health & Safety) team to monitor, correct, and improve driver behavior, with a focus on safety and risk management. Embrace the use of telematics, GPS, and electronic logging devices (ELDs) to monitor fleet operations, vehicle diagnostics, and driver performance

Communications: Communications and Partnership with fleet management company, Payroll, Finance, Accounts Payable, Sustainability, Occupational Health, EH&S, Staff Relations, GSS (Global Strategic Sourcing), Legal and Field Leadership

Program Improvement: Identify and implement Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) for Field Programs in coordination with vendors and other Amgen departments. Make recommendations for policy revisions as needed

Operational Efficiency and KPI Tracking: Analyze fuel consumption, maintenance expenses, and fleet utilization, and implement strategies to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency. Monitor fleet performance with fleet management company through KPIs such as fuel efficiency, vehicle pick-ups and deliveries, order to deliveries, rental costs and compliance issues

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

Basic Qualifications: Doctorate degree

Or Master's degree and 3 years of Logistics, Transportation or related field within the pharmaceutical, transportation or logistics industries

Or Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Logistics, Transportation or related field within the pharmaceutical, transportation or logistics industries

Or Associate's degree and 10 years of Logistics, Transportation or related field within the pharmaceutical, transportation or logistics industries

Or High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Logistics, Transportation or related field within the pharmaceutical, transportation or logistics industries

In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above

Preferred Qualifications: Vendor Management: Proven experience working with third-party vendors, preferably in fleet management, transportation and vehicle manufacturers

Detail Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail, with a focus on safety, cost management, and operational efficiency. Able to translate high volumes of data into meaningful information to support key business decisions

Interpersonal skills: Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal teams and external vendors

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with partners at all levels. Strong presentation skills

Analytical & Technical Skills: Very strong computer and M/S Office skills. Basic understanding of accounting/finance. Smartsheet a plus

Problem Solving Skills: Can identify issues and offer solutions from a strategic and operational perspective. Identifies and implements process improvement opportunities. Thinks strategically (can see the big picture) while delivering results at the appropriate level of detail

Self Starter: Ability to take initiative, problem solve, work independently and exercise appropriate business judgment. Completes projects and makes decisions with minimal direction and strong ability to develop prioritization and completion timeframes for multiple assignments/projects

Salary range: $111,600 - $136,000
