Description:
The Senior Project Manager will lead the successful planning, execution, and delivery of IT and AI-driven projects within the utility industry. This role is responsible for managing cross-functional teams, ensuring project alignment with business goals, and ensuring that AI technologies and IT solutions are effectively integrated into utility operations. The role demands a strong understanding of both IT systems and artificial intelligence solutions and their application in a utility environment, with a focus on efficiency, optimization, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership & Management: Lead end-to-end project lifecycle, including planning, execution, monitoring, and delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and budget. Define project objectives, scope, and deliverables in collaboration with key stakeholders. Manage and coordinate AI and IT teams, including data scientists, software engineers, and external vendors, ensuring clear communication and alignment on goals. Identify project risks, create mitigation strategies, and address issues proactively to keep the project on track. Stakeholder Communication:
Act as a liaison between IT, AI teams, and utility business units, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed of progress and any potential issues. Present project updates, AI integration strategies, and deliverables to senior leadership and other stakeholders. Translate complex technical concepts into non-technical language for stakeholders and decision-makers. AI and IT Integration:
Oversee the integration of AI solutions into utility operations such as predictive maintenance, energy consumption forecasting, grid optimization, and customer service enhancement. Collaborate with AI specialists to design and implement machine learning models and AI algorithms that improve operational efficiency. Ensure that IT infrastructure and AI systems are aligned and scalable to meet the evolving needs of the utility industry. Budget & Resource Management:
Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring proper allocation of resources for AI and IT initiatives. Manage external vendors and contractors, negotiating contracts and ensuring delivery of services as per project requirements. Optimize resource allocation to balance between project timelines and cost-efficiency. Compliance & Standards:
Ensure that projects adhere to relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and cybersecurity protocols specific to the utility sector. Implement best practices in project management, AI development, and IT service management (ITSM). Required Skills & Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred. Experience:
8-10 years of experience in project management, with a focus on IT or AI-related projects within the utility or energy sector. Proven experience in leading AI/ML or IT integration projects, especially in operational environments like energy grid management, smart meters, or renewable energy. Experience working with AI platforms, IT infrastructure, cloud computing, and data analytics tools. Technical Skills:
Knowledge of AI technologies, including machine learning, natural language processing, and predictive analytics. Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, or similar tools) and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Scrum). Strong understanding of IT systems, including network architecture, databases, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.). Familiarity with utility industry-specific systems, such as SCADA, energy management systems (EMS), or grid automation technologies. Soft Skills:
Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage cross-functional teams and foster collaboration in a matrixed environment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially under pressure. Attention to detail with a focus on delivering high-quality results. Certifications:
PMP (Project Management Professional) or Prince2 certification preferred. Agile certification (e.g., CSM, SAFe) is a plus.
