Senior Application Engineer

Duties:
Responsible for leading the design and estimation of process equipment including PT ED, Booths, Ovens, Work Decks, and enclosures, working off of customer specifications including developing equipment layouts, process equipment schematics, and technical documentation for inclusion in sales proposals; analyze customer technical specifications; coordinate in-house estimating activities including relevant drawings and specifications as well as major subcontractors including conveyors, paint application, and paint mix; arrange intercompany activities with offices in Germany and Mexico; responsible for layouts with layout engineers, Visio schematics for paint process equipment, and purchased equipment lists; investigate alternative sources for equipment and subcontractors; advance detailed estimate spreadsheets for projects, management cost analysis, and customer bid forms; develop technical specifications and clarifications for bids as well as project and job schedules; coordinate job handover and support job implementation by attending planning meetings and design reviews; utilize painting robotics programming and troubleshooting, launching with mechatronics equipment, design and development of factory automation, PLCs programming, safety systems, design risk assessment, project management, and SAP to perform duties; conduct technical presentations and provide clarification to customers and other departments; coordinate with CAD Design Engineers to design and develop plant layout and manufacturing drawing; create SAP Bill of Materials and Purchase Equipment List from Visio process schematics; create Electrical Controls and Instrumentation list from Visio schematics; create process equipment function plans and logical sequencing charts; conduct design risk assessments and implement action plans at the design stage; create site handover package; responsible for project specific know-how and knowledge transfer to site installation team, and coordinate with commissioning team; track and monitor project milestone achievement; and responsible for seamless support to site installation team, commissioning team and service teams for successful plant and equipment functioning.
Location: Southfield, MI and various unanticipated locations throughout the US;
Salary: $124,500 per year
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or in a related field of study (will accept equivalent foreign degree);
Experience: Five (5) years in the position above, as a Hardware Integration Engineer, as a Lead Mechanical Project Engineer, as a Project Engineering Lead, or in a related occupation;
Other Requirements: Experience must include one (1) year's use of all the following: painting robotics programming and troubleshooting, launching with mechatronics equipment, design and development of factory automation, PLCs programming, safety systems, design risk assessment, project management, and SAP.
Will also accept any suitable combination of education, training, and/or experience.
