Rock West Composites, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Financial Analyst. This position is onsite at our San Diego, CA HQ office.
Rock West Composites, Inc. is an engineering and manufacturing company dedicated to providing innovative solutions for commercial and government customers. This position is located in our San Diego, CA office and reports to our Director of Finance.
Position Summary:
The Financial Analyst is responsible for conducting comprehensive analyses across the Enterprise, ensuring financial accuracy and reliability. This role involves clear and effective communication with leadership through precise reports and summaries, enabling confident decision-making with minimal interpretation required. The Financial Analyst must understand both Enterprise trends and broader economic factors to provide timely insights that contribute to the organization's success. In addition to analyzing and interpreting data, this role also involves accurately gathering data and providing financial reports. The Financial Analyst will also support system implementations by verifying data integrity.
Essential Functions:
Providing financial data for various weekly, monthly, and annual reporting. To include, but not limited to Weekly dashboards, Monthly Job Costing data, Monthly Ratios, Monthly Financial Trend data, Variance reporting and analysis on budgets (indirect and direct). Provide forecasting support by integrating information across various departments within the Enterprise while considering outside economic impacts, when applicable. Continually evaluate and understand past and current financial data, including Enterprise Financial Statements. Establish and implement robust Enterprise systems and financial reports to support Enterprise strategy by incorporating current site data. Converting current systems into new systems/tools will be required. Provide forecasting support by integrating knowledge of other departments, including, but not limited to, Supply Chain, Accounting (Indirect Budgets, Inventory, Direct Costs, Capital Expenditures), Program Management, and Business Development. Support accounting department with various data driven month end reporting processes and reconciliations. Ability to understand and process journal entries, as required. An understanding of cost accounting. Support and maintain Fixed Asset ledgers/depreciation schedules Resolve issues related to sales/use tax returns including incidental filings when necessary Support Leadership, including, but not limited to Director of Finance, Controller, Industry Segment Leaders, Program Managers, Operations Managers, Supply Chain Managers, CFO and CEO with various reporting. Attend, host, and present financial data in various meetings. Have a strong understanding of compliance requirements as it relates to not only Finance Department, but the Enterprise as a whole with potential outside regulatory agencies. Have a strong understanding of internal policies and procedures both at site, Industry segment and Enterprise-level to provide compliant guidance/reporting. Adhere to established company policies, procedures, terms and conditions and legal matters that affect all reporting. Ensured adherence FAR requirements, GAAP, and tax law. Have a strong understanding of rate models to provide guidance on impacts of future business planning and quotes. Have a strong understanding of trends and business planning as it relates to the sustainability of current financial data reporting and requirements for continuous improvement to support timely guidance/conclusions. Support Company audits and various year-end reporting Actively pursue AR collections to reduce outstanding balance significantly as well as resolve issues that need corrected to receive payment Non-Essential Functions:

5+ years of relevant experience in accounting or financial field Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Experience in financial analysis within a manufacturing environment. In-depth knowledge of industry best practices and the ability to maintain up-to-date expertise. Proficiency in identifying and implementing tools, processes, and metrics to optimize reporting. Exceptional attention to detail with a strong analytical mindset. Ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment. Advanced financial analysis skills, including cost modeling, cost analysis, and data processing. Expertise in variance analysis reporting. Ability to utilize metrics and other analytical tools to inform data-driven recommendations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, with the ability to manage complex equations and linked spreadsheets. Experience with Microsoft Access is a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data clearly and concisely. Prior experience in an auditing role at a CPA firm is preferred. Familiarity with NetSuite Manufacturing and SAP Business One is highly desirable. Experience with MRP or ERP systems is a plus. Compensation:
The salary range for this position falls within $100,000 and $135,000. The final compensation will be determined based on experience, skillset, and other factors permitted by law.
