Position Summary:
This is a critical, hands-on role in our Company; perfect for someone who loves accounting and a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. This person is responsible for the accounting activities of our company, including month-end close, payroll, record keeping, sales tax, AP/AR, order processing and other activities consistent with accounting in a small, commercial-stage medical device company.

Duties and Responsibilities
:
Ensuring that all aspects of accounting and finance are carried out in accordance with company policies and controls Running budget and actual reports Collaborating to develop and update the Company budget Managing the day-to-day income and expense ledgers, accounts payable and accounts receivable Entering, reviewing and paying invoices and expense reports Processing sales orders and invoicing customers Handling sales and use taxes, including inclusion in invoices when appropriate and processing monthly through the state(s) Maintaining sales and inventory logs with appropriate documentation Processing purchase orders and maintaining appropriate records Reconciling balance sheet accounts Conducting monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance Reviewing and approving all payrolls Managing and refining the accounting operations of the company Maintaining an adequate system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk Ensuring the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) Supporting external tax accountants to produce tax reports and timely submittal to state and federal agencies. Managing grant reporting, invoicing and compliance Skills/ Qualifications
:
BS or BA in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Significant experience as an accountant in environments with commercial products and many customers Applicable experience within a small, early-stage company Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and best practices Business acumen partnered with attention to financial elements Knowledge of data analysis and reporting, proficient with Excel & Quickbooks Excellent knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles Excellent organizational and leadership skills Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills Ability to function independently Ability to adapt to a changing environment and identify/solve problems efficiently Other requirements :
Work from the Durham office 1-2 days per week (preferred)
