Abonmarche is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant in our South Bend, IN office.
Job Summary:
The Senior Staff Accountant will play a key role in the accounting department, responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who can analyze complex financial data and collaborate effectively with various teams.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP. General Ledger Maintenance: Manage the general ledger, including posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately. Cost Accounting: Assist in tracking project costs and budgets, providing insights into project profitability and financial performance. Budget Preparation and Management: Collaborate with management to develop and manage budgets, monitoring variances and providing analysis. Month-End Close: Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Accounts Payable/Receivable: Collaborate with the accounts payable and receivable teams to ensure efficient and timely processing of invoices and payments. Payroll Management: Assist in the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee compensation and related reporting. Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and addressing auditor inquiries. Compliance and Policy Development: Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and contribute to the development of accounting policies and procedures. Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to accounting staff, assisting with training and development as needed. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers and other departments to provide financial insights and support operational decision-making. Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred. Licensure/Certification/Registration:
None Work Experience/Qualifications:
5-7 years of accounting experience, with a focus on financial reporting and analysis. Occasional travel to other office locations is required, approximately 20%. Overnight travel is not required. Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations. Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) compliance preferred. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Prior experience in an architecture and engineering (A&E) firm is helpful.
