The Sisters of Charity Health System is recruiting for a full-time
Senior Staff Accountant . The Sr. Staff Accountant reports to the Controller and performs accounting and financial reporting functions, including posting and processing of weekly A/P checks for multiple entities including system entry and check production and will also support payroll as needed.
Responsibilities:
Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance and safety standards Keeps informed of generally accepted accounting priciples and standards affecting not for profit accounting Processes weekly A/P checks for multiple entites including system entry and check production Supports human resources and payroll as needed; ensures staffing costs are properly allocated and accurate accounting records are maintained; records payroll and benefits monthly Prepares and posts monthly general and standard journal entries and maintains monthly account reconciliations for multiple entities Performs monthly account anaylsis as needed; functions as financial resource to ministry leadership Maintains accounting records of grants and ensures compliance with all tax and other regulations; prepares grant reports and monthly grant invoices Reconciles contribution reports with fund development team Prepares support schedules for Finance Committee meetings as needed Monitors cash balances and prepares cash needs analysis as directed Supports ministry leadership in the development of annual budgets Prepares audit support schedules; drafts entity audit reports Prepares annual tax returns and other filings Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with business major in accounting Five or more years of accounting/financial experience Personal computer and accounting related software Non-profit experience preferred Able to work both independently and as part of a team; able to meet deadlines Good judgement and ability to make decisions Develop plans to meet specific objectives Strong oral and written communication skills required Must be highly organized and have the ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously with accuracy and attention to detail Interact positively with non-accounting personnel
