Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting across all three financial statements. In addition, you will have a specific focus on managing a portion of our company's inventory accounting. This is a crucial position that requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to drive process improvements.
POSITION SUMMARY
The individual in this role will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting across all three financial statements. In addition, they will have a specific focus on managing a portion of the company's inventory accounting. This is a crucial position that requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to drive process improvements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in the month-end close process ensuring timely and accurate completion of financial statements Preparation of monthly and quarterly journal entries Manage a portion of the company's inventory accounting, including tracking, valuation, and reconciliation Perform complex reconciliations of general ledger accounts, including bank reconciliations, and investigate any discrepancies Analyze inventory transactions such as scrap, recoveries, stock adjustments, and transfers, and provide monthly reporting metrics to management Prepare and analyze financial reports, highlighting key insights and trends to assist management in decision-making Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline accounting processes and enhance internal controls Maintain system reports and address integration issues related to mapping Identify areas for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy Assist in the development and documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls related to inventory Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant accounting standards Assist in audits and respond to inquiries from auditors as needed Stay updated on industry best practices and changes in accounting regulations Undertakes additional responsibilities and tasks as directed by management QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, & Skills required)
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA is a plus although not required In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Experience in inventory accounting 7+ years' experience in professional accounting Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, strong Excel skills highly desired Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills
