SUMMARY:

Under general direction from the Finance Management Team

  • Reviews, summarizes, and audits supporting revenue paperwork from operating casino departments according to established policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Processes accounts payable invoices by the casino
  • Ensures compliance with all the disbursement policies
  • Maintains superior customer service and strict confidentiality of information.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


REVENUE AUDIT

  • Reconciles gaming drops, food and beverage sales, jackpots, and fill slips for the revenue day.
  • Investigates and analyzes discrepancies within the daily paperwork in a timely manner; reports finding to the CFO and/or Director of Finance.
  • Generates and distributes the daily accounting reports.
  • Secures and maintains financial original documentation according to established policies and procedures.
  • Verifies revenue positing and paid-out documentation.
  • Assists with external audits by supplying requested documentation.
  • Reviews source documents for compliance to control standards and policies.
  • Retrieves original paperwork, separates based on audits and reviews for accuracy.
  • Audits monthly and quarterly meter readings on slot machines on the Casino floor.
  • Ensures full compliance with departmental internal controls, policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Performs simple bookkeeping tasks; verifies figures and other data on invoices, purchase orders and payment vouchers.
  • Checks documents and invoices for errors or discrepancies; notifies departments or vendors of error and initiates corrective action.
  • Prepares documents for payments; matches encumbrances with documents submitted for payments.
  • Maintains vendor accounts, listings, and files.
  • Assists departments with questions regarding authorization and payment processes; provides information regarding vendor payment/requirements as requested.
  • Issues accurate and timely accounts payable checks; submits checks for authorization and mails payments.
  • Files and maintains paid invoices and incoming receipts.
  • Maintains liaison with management, accounting staff, vendors, and other employees to correct errors and ensure efficient and effective accounts payable processing.
  • Ensures accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all processing.
  • Maintains all appropriate documentation; generates reports as required.
  • Obtains appropriate signatures and mails checks to vendors.
  • Attends and participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Answers incoming telephone calls, determines purpose of calls, and forwards calls to appropriate personnel or department, ensuring professional telephone etiquette.
  • Attends and participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
  • Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two years (2) accounting experience or equivalent (preferred).
  • Casino experience (preferred).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict time lines.
  • Ability to make solid decisions and exercise independent judgment.
  • Must be twenty-one years (21) of age.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • No felony, theft or stealing convictions.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre- employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of accounting and auditing procedures and financial systems.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and record-keeping practices.
  • Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation, and basic arithmetic.
  • Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Skill in operating 10-key by touch.
  • Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations.

  • The employee frequently is required to walk.
  • The employee occasionally is required to stand; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Work is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level.
  • Occasional work is performed in a Casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a moderate noise level.
  • Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
  • Tight time constraints and multiple demands are common.
