Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for an Electrical Engineer/NEC Electrical Inspector opportunity in Carlsbad, NM at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP).
Work Location: On-Site at WIPP
Per diem is available for those who qualify.
The Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is the nation's only permanent nuclear waste repository for defense-generated transuranic (TRU) waste generated from Department of Energy (DOE) sites across the country. Waste is permanently isolated over 2,000 feet underground in deep salt beds.

Duties:
- Will be responsible for inspecting electrical installations, systems, and equipment to ensure compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes and standards, such as NFPA 70, National Electrical Code.
- Interface with Field Engineers for inspection priorities and provide installation guidance to ensure adherence to code requirements.
- Review design documents for constructability.
- Monitor equipment installation reviews specifications, instruction manuals and technical data.
- Other electrical engineering duties, as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
- A Professional Engineer license is an acceptable alternative to a bachelor's degree.
- Related experience may substitute for education.
- Certified Electrical Inspector certification is a plus.
- Experience as an NEC Electrical Inspector is required.
- Experience with NFPA 70, National Electric Code (NEC) is required.
- Familiarity with NFPA70E, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace is a plus.
- Knowledge and experience of DOE, DOD and/or commercial nuclear construction projects is desired.
- Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk downs that may require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces.
