The Role: As a key member of our Hardware team, you'll be contributing to the design and development of our current and next generation robotics system. The Staff Robotics System Engineer - Integration and Test is responsible for ensuring the correct implementation of system architectures, and responsible for design and development of novel testing and manufacturing processes and equipment, to produce pioneering robotic products for surgical applications.
What you'll do:
Lead the bring up and hardware/software integration of new robotics systems. Drive root cause analysis effort across Hardware and Software and recommend appropriate actions to relevant engineering teams. Ensure proper implementation of system architecture encompassing electrical, mechanical, and software components by driving Test activities Design and development of testing processes and equipment with specific focus on performance characterization. Write test plans and procedures and create test cases for the product. Conduct performance tests of new prototypes. Define Verification and Validation activities for new hardware projects. Lead the productization of internal tools to support quality, manufacturing and field support activities such as receiving inspection, calibration, diagnostics... Develop and propose PoC towards improved performances and/or reliability of assembly lines. What you'll bring:
BS degree Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Mechanical) plus minimum 6 years of industry experience Use of and maintenance of laboratory equipment (power supplies, multimeters, power tools, tapping jigs, manual tools) Advanced scripting experience for automating test execution (e.g. Python, Matlab, etc) Demonstrate experience in data post-processing, statistical analysis and presentation, via R / Matlab / Python / Excel or other spreadsheet. Experience building and managing database. Selection and integration of multi-purpose components for benchtop test beds. Experience with realization/integration of electromechanical assemblies. Understanding of flowcharts and functional diagrams.. Excellent communication, teamwork, interpersonal skills with the ability to self-direct required. Experience interfacing with and managing external suppliers and vendors. Working knowledge of safety precautions and PPEs. Preferred additional knowledge and skills: Experience with laboratory equipment such as: signal generators, oscilloscope, 3-axis G-code machines, force transducers. Experience with data-collection/logging/analysis via basic interfaces (e.g. Arduino, DAQ). Experience with command-line environment (Windows *.cmd or batch files, Linux). FDA 21 CFR Part 820 - FDA Quality System Regulation preferred IEC 60601-1 - Safety standard for electro-medical devices preferred ISO 13485 -Medical Devices Quality Management Systems - Requirements for Regulatory Purposes preferred What else?
This is not a supervisory role This is a full-time position. This position occasionally requires long hours and weekend work. The position will require (10%) travel in and out of state The main location of this role is in a medical devices manufacturing facility and requires the regular use of office and role specific equipment, prolonged periods working on a computer, and the ability to lift/push/carry items up to 30 pounds
