Job Summary
A Lifecycle Manager (LCM) directs the management of ANS projects as it pertains to: Project Planning, Project Forecasting, Procurement, Life Cycle Support of deployed systems, supporting customer requests for Change Requests. As a manager of staff, they are also responsible for: Recruiting, Employee performance management and Development, Leave/Overtime Approval and Tracking, and Labour Relations.

In this role you will:
  • Develops and supports Policies, Procedures and Standards to ensure that the various in-service systems are maintained and enhanced to meet all safety, operational, and efficiency requirements.
  • Develops engineering management mechanisms and personal networks to identify opportunities to minimize downtime and to optimize quality control and reliability.
  • Ensures systems safety and integrity by directing the development of test procedures, testing, and certifying system integrity.
  • Formulates, analyzes, and evaluates proposals, plans, and solutions to replace, enhance, and maintain the system up to date.
  • Manages budgets for staff and programs, approving expenditures and maintaining accurate forecasts of costs.
  • Provides coaching, mentorship, and positive leadership of the lifecycle management team to maintain a healthy and productive workplace.
  • Works effectively and in a highly collaborative fashion with other teams in Technology
  • Delegates effectively and monitors progress to achieve expected results.


What you bring:
  • Graduation with a degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent education such as 3-year Electronics Technology or Computer Science diploma and related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience at NAV CANADA or in the industry.
  • 2+ years of experience related to proven people leadership, leading a team to successful corporate and workplace improvement results.
  • Knowledge and experience in directing projects, planning, budgeting, preparing work plans, scheduling activities, setting priorities, and assigning resources to meet objectives and deadlines.
  • Thorough knowledge and extensive experience in the development, testing, implementation, and life cycle support of complex safety critical ANS systems.
  • Knowledge of Air Traffic Management (ATM) and/or Communications, Navigation, Surveillance (CNS) systems and applications.
  • Knowledge and experience in management techniques and processes including business case analysis, project management, finance, and human resources.
  • Good knowledge of NAV CANADA's business and operational mandate, strategic objectives, accountability framework, corporate values, and principles, including how these relate to project objectives.
  • Current knowledge of evolving industry trends, computing, and communications technology and products and services.
  • Good knowledge of procurement policies, tendering processes, proposal evaluations, and contracting mechanisms.
