Marketing and Public Relations Director

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In coordination with other staff, this person is responsible for all advertising campaigns, communications, public relations, and marketing strategies to build awareness of the Hastings Museum, drive attendance, and increase engagement with exhibits, films, planetarium shows, programs, events, and educational classes, as well as increase Museum Store revenue. This person also oversees the general operations of the visitor services department to ensure consistent brand messaging and quality customer service.
QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelors degree in marketing or advertising, or combination of training and experience in developing and implementing successful marketing campaigns and promotions. Must have experience in designing, developing, and managing website content, social media posts, and advertising layouts with the ability to analyze campaign performance and marketing trends to successfully build brand awareness. The ideal candidate must be a creative thinker with strong communication and presentation skills. Museum or nonprofit experience a plus. Ability to speak and write in Spanish preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Collaborate with other Museum staff to budget, develop, and implement marketing strategies that support the Museums mission, identify target audiences and competition, increase public awareness, and analyze performance to improve campaign results and assess goal accomplishment. Write, produce, and coordinate distribution of promotional materials for general and targeted markets, includingbrochures, posters, advertisements, social media posts, webpage designs, e-blasts, etc. with the assistance of the visitor services department. Negotiate and manage contracts for advertising. Ability to manage multiple tasks to completion in a timely manner. Coordinate and manage public relations outreach including radio, television, print, online, and direct presentations, as well as representing the Museum on relevant local committees Solicit sponsorships for films and key events, and research and write grant proposals to support the marketing budget. Exercise general supervision of the visitor service department to ensure accurate and on brand messaging is disseminated to the public and guarantee quality experience for members and visitors. Perform related duties as required and all other duties as may be assigned.
