Job Title: Aquatics Director

Job Location - Schoepe Scout Reservation at Lost Valley, Warner Springs, CA

Responsible To - Program Director

Responsible For - Aquatics Staff

Job Summary: The Aquatics Director is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the camp's aquatic programs. This includes ensuring the safety and enjoyment of camp participants in activities such as swimming, boating, and water safety instruction.

Season Dates:

Directors' Week: 6/8/25-6/14/25

Staff Development Week: 6/15/25-6/21/25

Week 1: 6/22/25-6/28/25

Week 2: 6/29/25-7/5/25

Week 3: 7/6/25-7/12/25

Week 4: 7/13/25-7/19/25

Week 5: 7/20/25-7/26/25

Week 6: 7/27/25-8/2/25 (Dependent program finalization)

Wage - $516.00-584.00 per week after R&B of $45.00/week

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the daily operations of the camp's aquatic facilities, including swimming pools and any natural water bodies used for camp activities.

Develop and implement comprehensive aquatic programs that are safe, fun, and appropriate for Scouts of varying skill levels.

Train, supervise, and certify aquatic staff, ensuring they are proficient in lifesaving techniques, first aid, and CPR, as well as effective program delivery.

Conduct regular safety inspections of the aquatic facilities and equipment and maintain high standards of cleanliness and maintenance.

Uphold and enforce all camp and Scouting America aquatic safety policies and procedures.

Coordinate with other area directors and staff to integrate aquatic activities into the overall camp program.

Provide instruction in various aquatic merit badges and skills, including swimming, lifesaving, and boating.

Inform camp administration of material and supply needs promptly.

Handle any emergencies or incidents at the aquatic facilities promptly and efficiently.

Support overall operations of Schoepe Scout Reservation at Lost Valley and the Scouting America, Orange County Council .

Submit an end of summer report

Qualifications:

21 years of age or older.

Obtain NCS Aquatics Director certification and Lifeguard certification

Proven experience in aquatic program management, preferably in a camp setting.

Available to work all summer

Ability to live on site during the summer season working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as program scheduling requires.

Have or be willing to obtain membership in Scouting America

Have or be willing to obtain Live Scan background check.

All camp staff must have a completed annual physical done by a medical provider prior to the start of the summer camp season

Summer camp experience preferred
