Position Summary

Position is responsible for post-award grant management of grants. This includes expenditures, monitoring and reporting on grant funds and a variety of budget related compliance issues.

Position Responsibilities

Initiates setup of project funds by reviewing terms and conditions of grant guidelines for expenditures.

Performs full and complete financial and personnel audit of all sponsored project accounts.

Examines all posting for accuracy and maintenance of adequate balances.

Utilizes enterprise financial software to review and approve grant-funded purchasing requests.

Establishes appropriate coding for grant funds in enterprise financial software.

Establishes financial controls and systems for new grants/programs.

Provides projections of project expenses to determine need for additional funds, potential overruns and requests to sponsors.

Reviews, approves and submits accurate financial reporting to funder. Reviews grant fund balances to ensure accounting structure is reconciled appropriately

Reviews and reconciles grant fund balances in enterprise financial software.

Draws down federal and state funds for grant reimbursement as necessary.

Create and submit grant extension requests as needed to expend grant funds.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field and two (2) years professional experience in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field. Can have minimum of six (6) years prior relevant experience to substitute for formal education. Knowledge of the budgetary process, City/County accounting principles and procedures, and City/County rules and regulations. Knowledge of City/County government structure, administrative procedures and the grant award process. Knowledge of infrastructure, transportation, and social services programs and practices. Analytical and quantitative skills including knowledge of finance, accounting, statistics and economics. Interpersonal and communication skills suitable for a wide variety of audience contacts. Confidence and capability to learn on the job and adapt quickly to changing circumstances. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Independent judgment is utilized when there are no available policies and procedures. Errors in judgment may cause inconsistencies and inconveniences.
