EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATION Posting Number: S993 Department: College Relations Position Type: Exempt Employment Status: Full-Time-Staff Salary: $99,961.00 - $154,940.00 Open Date: 11/13/2024 Close Date: 11/27/2024 Job Description Summary: The Executive Director of Communications will play a key role in the continued development and implementation of Del Mar College’s Strategic Marketing & Communication plan, designed to elevate DMC’s awareness and reputation while driving enrollment and successful student outcomes. The Executive Director reports to the Vice President, Communications & Marketing, and oversees a team of communications, community relations, and media relations personnel. The successful Executive Director will be familiar with a broad spectrum of modern communication channels. They will utilize the talents of the team across those channels to tell the Del Mar College story in innovative new ways that create awareness, bolster reputation, and reinforce the DMC brand throughout the Coastal Bend. Working directly with deans and other executives around the College, the Executive Director will also be responsible for communicating internal messaging that helps move those constituents’ initiatives forward. The Executive Director position also plays a key role in the larger community, frequently attending local clubs and organizations to represent DMC. The successful candidate should have demonstrated public speaking experience and strong networking skills. The position will frequently collaborate with Executive Director of Marketing & Events to insure alignment between brand/enrollment marketing and DMC’s broader messaging and communication strategy Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree. Five (5) years in communications, marketing or public relations field. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree. Seven (7) years in communications, marketing or public relations field. Demonstrated history managing a team. Community relations experience or involvement/volunteer service in local community groups, boards or organizations. Experience working with news media/press releases/media events. Background writing speeches and executive communications. Experience presenting to large groups.
