Summary:
Our New York office is looking for a Data Analyst to join the Data Strategy Team within NB Private Markets. The team provides centralized oversight of end-to-end investment and portfolio data including acquisition, ingestion, quality control and data accessibility. This team functions as the first line of defense to triage, coordinate and complete data requests across all NB Private Markets divisions. This key person will be the subject matter expert and main point of contact for portfolio company data gathering and analytical requests. The role requires a close partnership with external data providers and other functions within the organization including the Front Office, Data Management, CRM, Finance, Legal, Technology, and Marketing teams.
The NB Private Markets business includes Primary, Secondary and Co-investments in Private Equity, Primary and Secondary Private Credit as well as other Private Market products such as funds of Hedge Funds, Consumer Brands, coupled with all the complexity of a fast growing, pioneering, and privately owned global asset manager.
Responsibilities:
Aggregate, gather and create analytics regarding portfolios, underlying investments and client accounts, accurately summarize and present results to senior management
Become a domain expert, provide end to end ownership for investment and portfolio company metrics including monitoring deal closing, tracking completion of key financial figures, working closely with investment team professionals to assist in data gathering, compiling, data quality control, analyzing, presenting ready to use data for internal analysis and client reporting
Work with the Fundraising and Marketing and Finance Teams to provide portfolio analysis for investor reporting requests and request for proposals for new investors
Leverage multiple sources to calculate complex performance KPIs used for client reporting, marketing, RFP, fund raising and performance analysis
Assist with implementing new data source applications
Complete recurring or ad hoc portfolio company data requests
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, or information technology
2-4 years’ hands-on experience in accounting/financial industry setting preferred
Familiarity with various alternative strategies (e.g. Private Equity, Private Credit, Venture Capital)
Experiences with Chronograph, iLevel, Burgiess, Cobalt or other portfolio monitoring tools is a plus
Prior experience with data warehouse, data modeling and data analysis is required
Advanced Excel (Power Query, VBA); Hands on Python experience (Pandas, Pyspak, Matplotlib/Seaborn) and SQL and Database experience (MySQL, Oracle, MangoDB, Snowflake) is required
Tableau or other BI tools is a plus but not required
Must be detail oriented and organized and possess good analytical and time management skills
Must be able to handle multiple assignments/initiatives
Team player with strong work ethic and positive attitude
Ability to work independently and demonstrate critical thinking
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Compensation Details
The salary range for this role is $95,000-$125,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York City. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for a discretionary bonus. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), life insurance and other benefits to eligible employees.
