The Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) is a progressive business regulatory state agency dedicated to the mission of protecting and serving Oregon's consumers and workers while supporting a positive business climate. The department administers state laws and rules governing workers' compensation, occupational safety and health, financial institutions, insurance companies and building codes. The department has consumer protection and education programs, offices, and ombuds to help consumers, injured workers, and businesses.
This position is with the Central Services Division (CSD). CSD is responsible for providing accounting, budgeting, collections, procurement, facilities management, information technology, human resources, and research services to the department.
This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

As an Accounting Generalist, you will provide accounts payable, accounts receivable, and assessments unit support for the agency under the direction of the Accounts Receivable Manager. You will float from section-to-section as the workload requires.

Here's what you need to qualify:
Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of experience calculating, recording, and maintaining accounting information that must include coding transactions and checking them for propriety, balancing, and resolving discrepancies in computer edits OR
One year of experience calculating, recording, and maintaining accounting information that must include coding transactions and checking them for propriety, balancing, and resolving discrepancies in computer edits AND at least 43 quarter (29 semester) credit hours from an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school that includes 9 quarter (6 semester) credit hours in accounting. Credit hours must include introductory level accounting courses 1 and 2 OR
At least 94 quarter (62 semester) credit hours or an associate degree from an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school that includes 12 quarter (8 semester) credit hours in accounting. Credit hours must include introductory level accounting courses 1 and 2 and may include any additional accounting courses with "accounting" in the title. Training or experience must include using a computer to enter, update, or retrieve information.

Demonstrated independent research skills Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Strong attention to detail Outstanding verbal and written communication skills Strong analytic and critical thinking skills Skill in problem solving Ability to work independently and prioritize work to meet various deadlines Proficient using multiple computer programs, to compare, analyze and process information Application information:
