Job Description SummaryThe Lead Manufacturing Training Specialist will operate as the Site Training Leader, championing success for the Terre Haute plants through guiding development of employees. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesEstablish overall training structure for enabling advancement of skills, expectations, and growth of all hourly team members.Maintain and lead partnership with IvyTech Community College along with other external and internal partners to continue pipeline, growth, and competitiveness of Terre Haute hourly workforce.Partner with the Site HR Leader and engineering leader to develop a training program aligning with technical needs.Provide in depth perception and insight by conducting whole organization needs assessments, identifying skills or knowledge gaps that need addressing, for the hourly workforce.Work with Business Leaders regarding manpower selection and job movement. Work with business leaders to standardize and improve cross-training matrix.Assists with HR related activities as needed.Provides expertise in analyzing learning needs, designing training solutions in partner with subject matter experts and advanced employees.Creates a shared need with business leaders to identify training needs and map out development plans for teams and individuals. Coordinates appropriate trainers by subject.Co-leads annual reviews and record retention of job classifications, qualifications, and expectations for all levels of operators.Partner in evaluating current skills assessment process for all hourly operators.Primarily focuses on creating/developing technical training paths related to machining, welding, fabrication, assembly, laser, heat treat, and other special processes.Overall monitors training content and documentation.Works together with technical and business leadership to determine and fulfill training requirements.Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism regarding sensitive information.Strong communication skills to work with business leaders, and a broad range of training administration and delivery vendors; ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences.Strong interpersonal and leadership skillsAbility to influence others and lead small teams.Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.Effective problem identification and solution skillsAbility to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders.Coordinate with Business Leaders regarding employee movement Coordinate training-related community activities through the site HR leader / Administrative AssistantDesigns and prepares educational aids and materials as needed.Required QualificationsBachelor's Degree accredited college or university with a HR focus preferred (or a high school diploma / GED + a minimum of 4 years of full-time related experience in HR/training/curriculum development)Minimum of 3 additional years of relevant experience in related fields preferably in a manufacturing environment (HR/Training/Curriculum development)Desired CharacteristicsHave previous experience developing and managing training programs.Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learnTransparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructivelyFocused: quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, committed Leadership ability: strong communicator, decision-maker, collaborativeProblem solver: analytical-minded, challenges existing processes, critical thinkerHealthcare benefits include medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage; access to a Health Coach, a 24/7 nurse-based resource; and access to the Employee Assistance Program, providing 24/7 confidential assessment, counseling and referral services.
