Position Overview

At Hexion, we handle complex business on a daily basis. Our legal team helps ensure the work we do meets risk and compliance standards. As an Associate Attorney, you will play a crucial role in business related matters encompassing various areas of law, including but not limited to corporate governance, M&A activity and compliance. You will be responsible for helping to uphold Hexion's image and maintaining a culture of excellence and professionalism.

Job Responsibilities
  • Support and work closely with Hexion's legal team and senior leaders on company legal, regulatory and business matters
  • Review agreements for accuracy, comprehensiveness, and compliance with business needs and all relevant legal requirements
  • Provide legal advice as required
  • Work with outside legal counsel as required
  • Perform legal research, review and prepare contracts and other legal documentation

Minimum Qualifications
  • Successful candidates will have 10+ years of experience
  • Self-motivated with a high sense of professional ethics and integrity
  • Ability to translate complex legal concepts into actions for the business
  • Law degree from an accredited university
  • License to practice law in relevant jurisdictions
  • Bar membership in good standing
  • Attention to detail is a must
  • Critical thinker and problem solver
  • Professional and courteous demeanor
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced team environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Word, Excel and other Microsoft Office programs
  • Working knowledge of contracts, transactional and general corporate and business disciplines
  • Excellent research skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a range of legal matters

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of national regulations, and general corporate law
  • Familiarity with corporate structures
  • Understanding of regional regulations and cross-border transactions
