Job Description AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Geologist for employment in the Austin, Texas office. This position would support the Environmental business line, primarily working on environmental investigation and remediation Department of Defense projects. The successful candidate will research and solve technical problems in accordance with accepted practice and methodology. The individual will report to and be guided by one or more project managers and senior technical staff in the execution of field work at project sites, and assist with gathering and analyzing geological, hydrogeological, and geochemical data in both the field and office settings. The candidate must possess their own personal vehicle for travel to and from job offices. The individual will work on both field and office tasks. In the field, the individual will use established technical approaches and methods to collect data. In the office, the individual will work independently to evaluate the data and present the results for less complex projects, and support more senior staff in the technical analysis and reporting for projects of greater complexity. With greater experience, the individual will analyze issues and develop solutions to technical problems. The individual will gain knowledge from direct experience and working with more senior staff and gain increasing responsibility to apply their technical knowledge and experience to implement strategies and support design and delivery of products to meet customer and business needs. The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Prepares technical work plans and reports. Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance. Plan, execute, analyze and report on environmental measures in natural systems. Apply standard field practices and techniques using basic field equipment to collect samples of soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, sediment; prepare samples for shipping, and complete chain-of-custody or similar paperwork. Conduct geological logging and interpretation, and the oversight of subcontractors including laboratories and excavation and drilling companies Study contaminants and determine how to restore the environment. Possess technical report writing skills. Perform unsupervised field tasks. Review analytical data for general indicators of quality for routine analyses based on well-defined guidelines. Coordination with task and project managers, working with and supervising on-site subcontractors and field staff, supporting sampling, data collection, and field documentation. Travel to various job sites within the US. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, and commitment to workplace health and safety. Learn and develop a keen understanding of hazard recognition, and environmental investigation or remediation. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or other related discipline (e.g., geophysics, geochemistry, environmental geology, engineering geology) 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Valid U.S. Driver's License Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in geology, hydrogeology, or other related discipline (e.g., geophysics, hydrogeology, geochemistry, environmental geology, engineering geology). Professional registration or on track to obtain professional registration. Experience with developing conceptual site models, and preparing remediation strategies Proficiency in standard office suite software applications. OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification Database, GIS, CAD, visualization software skills are desirable Ability to demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and fellow employees. Ability to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner. Ability to learn through on-the-job experience. Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and safely drive a full-size pickup truck. Tolerance for work in outdoor environments in a range of weather conditions and be medically fit for wearing a respirator. Additional Information #LI-EM1 Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $60,000.00 - $75,000.00.
