About the Role

The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for Overseeing the implementation and maintenance of quality standards, procedures, and protocols to ensure products meet or exceed regulatory and customer requirements. They will be directly responsible for their assigned quality team to lead and motivate area technicians and technologists to perform and complete quality inspections to ensure product compliance and performance is maintained. The quality supervisor will be responsible for their assigned direct report technicians and technologists and to monitor performance, attendance and development progress.

What You Will Do
  • Ensure their assigned employees are trained and competent in assigned tasks
  • Establishes growth and development plan for assigned direct report employees.
  • Provides support, guidance and mentorship for direct reports assigned to them.
  • Able to perform standard quality checks and inspections across all assigned quality laboratory areas.
  • Ensure completion of quality assurance plan including, but not limited to supplier initial sample inspection report to ensure product conformance and performance standards are met and validated.
  • Provides first line of quality inspection support and initial corrective action plan guidance for deviations or nonconformities identified during the manufacturing process by area operators.
  • Conducts job functions with minimal guidance and follow-up. Leads and delegates various responsibilities, as required, to project core team members or vehicle processor. Outlines and reports on completion status, open issues, action plans, problem analysis (including departmental or core team process issues) and makes recommendations to the core team, manager, quality assurance and core team management, if required, at planned milestones. Consults and supports other engineers in the above.
  • Develops and publishes updates to AESC quality standards for assigned area operations.
  • Develops, updates and maintains quality assurance departmental work instructions.
  • Conducts job functions and oversight of others with high levels of attention to detail to ensure quality tests are performed in a safe and efficient manner while identifying potentials for quality escapes.
  • Supports quality initiatives and standards to identify and eliminate potential quality defect generation points with the overall goal of ZERO Defects.
  • Familiar with standard laboratory equipment operations, maintenance and troubleshooting (Ex: GC, ICP-OES, Liquid Particle size, Titration, Karl Fischer moisture)
  • Ability to make data driven decisions in a high paced manufacturing environment to ensure product quality and conformance standards are maintained while supporting manufacturing throughput targets.
  • Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards.
  • Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor and is characterized by some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic. The individual must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees, management, customers and suppliers.

Qualifications

What You Need
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business or a related field is required.
  • Strong knowledge of quality functions in a manufacturing setting.
  • A minimum of 5 years of directly related quality control experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate data.
  • Ability to prioritize and pivot daily activities driven by production urgency.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional or chemical testing techniques and equipment such as: Optical Measurement Machine (OMM), CMM, Viscometer, Gravimetric Density, 3D Microscopy, Tensile Strength analysis, Karl Fisher Titration, ICP-OES .
What is "Nice to Have"?
  • Background in supporting a highly technical automotive-related manufacturing environment is highly desired.
  • Background in VDA Core Tools
  • Background and experience using Six Sigma methodologies
  • CAPA, 8D and problem solving experience.
  • Experience leading teams of 20 or more people
  • Experience managing quality data results systems and records (QMS/LIMS)
Travel

Occasional domestic and international travel required.
