Description Citizens is looking for a driven and passionate Manager of Consumer Banking Communications, to join our team. The successful candidate will develop and execute strategic, integrated communications plans and messaging strategies for Citizens’ Consumer Banking lines of business. This ideal candidate is a highly organized, strategic and creative individual with a strong journalistic mindset. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the Consumer Banking narrative and enhancing visibility of strategic initiatives to advance Citizens’ brand and reputation as the go-to destination for a seamless, one-stop-shop banking experience . From leading integrated communications plan to leveraging data and analytics to shape media relations strategies, this role will be instrumental in driving the Consumer Banking mission through impactful storytelling and engagement with diverse audiences. The ideal candidate , based at our corporate office in Westwood, MA or New York, NY, will possess strong interpersonal and communications skills, as well as the ability to build relationships across all areas of the organization. The AVP, Consumer Banking Communications, should have demonstrated ability to influence senior-level stakeholders and an understand of the banking industry and its regulations. Responsibilities will include: Develop and execute integrated communications campaigns and public relations strategies that align with our business themes and objectives, including w riting and editing news releases, presentations, thought leadership content, and other materials. Manage media relations and provide external communications support for Citizens’ Consumer Banking products and services, including deposit products, mortgage and home equity lending, student loans, and credit cards. retail branches, checking and savings, mortgage lending and credit cards. Achieve visibility in top-tier national, regional, local and trade publications advancing key messages and thought leadership; and collaborate with our social media team to extend coverage to LinkedIn. Create content for contributed pieces, draft press releases, and coordinate media events; coach Consumer Banking executives to effectively communicate with the press. Support organized scheduling for a variety of spokespeople. Manage and develop productive relationships with business, financial services, consumer, lifestyle and banking trade beat reporters. Identify industry and pop-culture trends, along with data and insights to drive storytelling about Citizens’ robust Consumer Banking products and offerings for mass affluent and affluent customers. Monitor, analyze, and showcase media coverage and results in a disciplined and strategic fashion. Develop and maintain positive relationships at senior leadership levels and cross-functionally, ensuring effective communication and strategy alignment. Contribute to strategy development and execution, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives. Partner closely with the firm's Corporate Communications team to execute in-market media activity and promote cross-line of business storytelling. Experience and Skills: 6-8 years of media relations experience – in an in-house or PR agency setting (Account Executive or similar level) . Experience in financial services and/or wealth management communications is highly desirable. Strong experience in all aspects of public relations: from creating and presenting a strategy, to writing pitches, pitching, securing opportunities, managing interviews or events, monitoring, and presenting results on a regular basis. Highly strategic and proactive mindset with strong critical thinking skills. Ability to craft and deliver cohesive business-wide messaging and distill for external and internal audiences. Exceptional project management and organizational skills required, including the ability to strategically prioritize multiple assignments. Ability to proactively pursue and achieve press activity. Strong writing and editing abilities, strong eye for detail, and strong communication skills. Ability to create and sustain productive relationships with the media. Current relationships with financial services and personal finance media preferred. Comfortable working in a corporate, business professional environment, with the ability to manage clients at senior leadership levels and build internal relationships to operate effectively across a large and complex corporation. Experience using social media to develop relationships and contributing to social media content strategies. Monitor, analyze, and showcase media coverage and results in a disciplined and strategic fashion. Enthusiastic, keen to learn, self-motivated individual, with an excellent work ethic. Education: Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communication, journalism, media studies, or a similar degree required.
