The Director, Senior Credit Officer will be tasked with evaluating and challenging credit applications from the front office, as well as preparing and presenting executive summaries and recommendations to the Credit Department's management. This role primarily involves handling lending transactions for investment-grade corporates and their financial products, along with high-yield obligors with intricate capital structures and leveraged loans.

Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive analyses of credit risk and transaction specifics, focusing mainly on high-yield obligors, and provide thorough reviews and challenges to the front office.
  • Draft and present executive summaries and comments on credit applications to the Credit Department's management.
  • Collaborate with the front office to assist in due diligence and structuring, pinpoint key credit risks, and challenge assumptions before formal credit submission.
  • Facilitate the credit approval process by coordinating between the front office and Credit Department management.
  • Oversee the credit quality of counterparties and transaction portfolios, offering feedback to business units to ensure applications are consistent and complete.
  • Provide guidance to business units to ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures.
  • Supervise problem assets, including classified loans, and present detailed reports to management.
  • Participate in portfolio reviews, loan reviews, and special credit reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, workflow procedures, and regulatory requirements in each credit application.
  • Stay updated on relevant regulations and industry best practices.
  • May be required to analyze counterparties and deals in various sectors based on workload.
  • Undertake other credit-related tasks and projects as assigned.

Profile

Qualifications and Skills:

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, preferably in a credit risk role (formal credit training is preferred).
  • Strong background in high-yield/middle-market corporate finance is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience interacting with US Regulators (Fed, OCC, or FDIC) is preferred.
  • Ability to align with the company's credit philosophy and risk appetite.
  • Strong critical thinking skills to understand factors affecting portfolio creditworthiness, such as economic downturns, market volatility, industry disruptions, or interest rate changes, and the ability to quickly analyze complex information.
  • Sensitivity to risk and the ability to guide decisions through discussions with business units.
  • Capability to manage a high volume of deals in a fast-paced environment, analyze credit applications, and prepare written summaries efficiently.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of support and business partners.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related fields. An MBA/CFA or other professional qualifications are highly preferred.

Job Offer

$185,000-$230,000 base salary, plus bonus.
