Kelly Services is seeking a hands-on Factory Shop Floor Supervisor to oversee and actively participate in daily operations at a custom/made to order design shop with one of our key clients. This role involves supervising and supporting teams in electrical, fabrication, sanding, washing, and painting areas while ensuring quality standards, order sequences, and deadlines are met. The ideal candidate has manufacturing experience, understands shop floor dynamics, and has the ability to guide and train employees while maintaining a high level of organization and safety compliance. 

Details:
  • Monday to Friday
  • 6am to 2:30pm

 Responsibilities:
  • Supervise shop floor operations across multiple areas, including fabrication, sanding, washing, painting, electrical, and routing and letter bending. 
  • Distribute work packages, communicate order sequences, deadlines, and quality requirements to employees. 
  • Review and understand drawings to ensure fabrication meets specifications. 
  • Actively assist with production tasks when needed, serving as a working supervisor. 
  • Oversee and participate in training for personnel to enhance skills and meet operational needs. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop floor environment. 
  • Enforce safety and OSHA compliance throughout the plant. 
  • Notify materials management about tools, supplies, and materials needed for the shop floor. 
  • Conduct weekly communication meetings with employees to ensure alignment on objectives and expectations. 
  • Identify and address issues where products do not meet specifications, ensuring quality standards are upheld. 

Qualifications:
  • Some college coursework preferred. 
  • Minimum of five years supervising factory employees, including hiring and training. 
  • Familiarity with shop floor operations. 
  • Ability to interpret and verify technical drawings and schematics for accuracy and quality. 
  • Attention to detail to ensure products meet specifications before advancing to the next stage. 
  • Patience and strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse personalities. 
  • Basic purchasing knowledge and computer proficiency. 
  • Hands-on leader who can step in to assist when necessary. 
  • Manufacturing background with a strong understanding of quality standards.
