We have an exciting opportunity for a Hybrid Wheat Contract Production Manager in Johnston IA.
This role will collaborate with stakeholders to establish a production system with third-party conditioners, promoting the Hybrid Wheat initiative to vendors and growers, setting up agreements for production acres, conditioning, treating, packaging, and delivery. The primary focus starts with Hard Red Winter Wheat and later includes Hard Red Spring Wheat. In Field Operations, the role oversees Seed Production, from acreage allocation to harvest, ensuring commercial alignment, risk management, and leading a team to implement business plans. Responsibilities include managing all contract production processes, from vendor selection to execution, with ongoing communication to stakeholders and process improvement. For Plant Operations, the role strategically manages third-party seed production and supply, from post-harvest through delivery, ensuring production schedules are met, risks are minimized, and annual improvements are implemented. In Contract Management, the role involves executing and overseeing vendor contracts, managing payments, and providing updates to stakeholders.
This is a hybrid role requiring working on site Tuesday – Thursday with the ability to work remotely Monday and Friday.

What You’ll Do:
Lead and manage the Seed Production team to meet supply needs through planning and execution.
Collaborate with Supply Chain, Quality, Production, and Finance to meet customer requirements.
Identify and oversee improvements in supply/demand planning, risk management, and data stewardship.
Manage key processes and execution across functions, including:
Acreage Allocation: Develop and communicate crop-specific Quality Plans and allocate acreage with third-party vendors.
Parent Seed: Coordinate with Parent Seed Teams to allocate seed per plans, provide quality info, and manage returns.
Crop Progress Reports: Collect and communicate weekly planting, harvest progress, and yield estimates from vendors.
Harvest: Develop Quality Plans for crops, create harvest batches, and manage harvest orders for accurate reporting.
Quality Control: Monitor and communicate field and harvest quality issues to vendors.
Oversee contracts with third-party vendors and track performance on quality, costs, and resource utilization.
Execute plans to meet sales demand for hybrid wheat and identify cost-reduction opportunities in seed production.
Establish a safety culture and provide guidance on talent management and employee development.
Design, review, and execute production agreements with third-party vendors.
Monitor vendor performance on yield, quality, and delivery, addressing any agreement concerns.
Provide data for monthly and annual financial planning.
Review and approve invoices related to third-party production agreements.
Education:
BA or BS preferably in supply chain, operations, agriculture, or business.
What Skills You Need:
6+ years of agriculture business, supply chain or operations experience.
Strong collaboration skills.
Motivational leadership.
Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
Project management experience and process improvement.
You have experience and proven proficiency in computer systems and programs including (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and tend to pick up quickly on new software.
Strong financial acumen.
High attention to detail.
High level of issue identification, problem solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to influence without authority as well as coordinate effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally.
