The Staff Accountant will manage, analyze, and report financial information for the organization. The role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, strong attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions. Communicate deadlines with all internal HVP cross-functional teams as needed

Partner with leadership to help develop and execute business plans and operational strategies

Partner with leaders to identify opportunities to streamline and improve accounting procedures for efficiency and accuracy

Partner with leaders to implement best practices in financial management and accounting software utilization

Collaboration

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records by managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll

Perform general ledger entries, adjustments, and reconciliations for accuracy and compliance

Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)

Generate reports on financial performance and budget variances to provide insights to senior management

Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets and financial forecasts

Analyze actual financial performance against forecasts and recommend adjustments where nec

Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulations

Coordinate with external auditors, preparing all necessary documentation and facilitating audit process

Support tax preparation and filing, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations

Maintain tax documentation and records in compliance with legal requirements

Managed outsources functions (vendor onboarding)

Additional responsibilities as the company scales and the position evolves.

Skills & Abilities

Experience with Sage Intacct

Experience with multi-site/multi-entity accounting

Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis

Ability to streamline accounting processes

Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Demonstrated team player mentality

Ability to adapt and learn new software

Ability to work efficiently as part of the team as well as independently

Education, Experience & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field

1 – 3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles preferably in veterinary medicine

Proficient in accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting tools

Professional certification, such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred
