JOB SUMMARY

Based in Medway, Massachusetts, this position reports to the Bus Systems Controller. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, maintaining, analyzing, and reporting on complex financial information, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, depreciation statements, cash flow, debtor and creditor lists, repayment schedules, regulatory reports and filings for the Medway location and the China Joint Venture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform more complex accounting activities in accordance with US GAAP accounting principles and standards to control the organization's financial resources and ensure that it complies with all relevant regulations, laws, and reporting requirements.

Oversee month-end closing of general ledger and sub-modules including preparing, posting, and reviewing of journal entries; prepare and/or review account reconciliations, reports, and schedules, and/or bank reconciliations.

Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information and details to support expenses, tax liability, and/or other financial activities.

Prepare account reconciliations and monthly balance sheet accounts including assets and liabilities, account roll forwards, and other reports required for corporate accounting.

Provide technical accounting advice within area of expertise to functional or operational areas managers to help them develop revenue and expense budgets, understand financial reports, and manage their financial responsibilities.

Implement month-end closing improvements to ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures and to ensure the most effective and efficient operations.

Collecting and analyzing data about the company’s operational costs along with developing and analyzing cost standards.

Responsible for managing all accounting and reporting functions related to the company's foreign subsidiaries in China and the Netherlands. This includes overseeing, directing, and providing guidance to foreign employees on all accounting and finance matters. The role also involves accounting for the subsidiary's ownership interests in the joint ventures in China and Saudi Arabia.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides formal supervision to professional employees. Approves recommendations for staff selection, promotion, corrective action, and termination. Plans and monitors appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor. Prepares and delivers performance reviews. Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies.

Develops business plans that consider long-term activities, issues, and opportunities.

Develops a strategic direction that connects the role of the team to the to the success of AVAIL.

Ensures the initiatives and priorities in one’s area are integrated with one another and aligned with AVAIL’s priorities.

Gives feedback that is constructive and precise based on facts and behavioral patterns observed and gives individualized suggestions for improvement.

Takes new initiatives aimed at improving team performance.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CPA preferred.

7 to 10 years of experience required.

Previous experience in a manufacturing background a plus.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Up to 10% travel nationally and internationally may be required.
