Staff Accountant
who craves a role encompassing a diverse range of responsibilities that will support their ongoing growth and development, spanning from day-to-day operations to exciting projects and initiatives. The Staff Accountant is responsible for account reconciliations, journal entries, and other designated areas of responsibility. Responsibilities
Energy Accounting Maintain the energy accounting processes, policies, procedures and internal controls needed for the natural gas division Responsible for energy accounting processes, including but not limited to: Calculation of gross margins, revenues and cost x Management of monthly counterparty settlements Actualization of natural gas volumes, which includes the management and tracking of invoicing of revenues, payment of purchases and net settlements Responsible for the month-end accounting process for natural gas including the generation and coordination of journal entries and reconciliations. Creation and analysis of balance sheet and profit and loss statements - including the analysis of monthly and seasonal fluctuations (volume and amounts) as compared to prior months, budgets and estimates to actuals Support additional reporting and processes under the Controller, such as monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting Account Reconciliations Reconcile all designated balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis Analyze, research and resolve any reconciling items in a timely manner
Journal Entries Process journal entries for month-end close, including sub-ledger to ledger reconciliations; use independent thinking in creating journal entries (i.e., determining what to accrue, how much to accrue, etc.) Ensure all transactions are accounted for in accordance with U.S. GAAP Post journal entries for assigned departments in a timely manner
Designated Tasks/Other Analysis of financial statements Drive process improvement and identify opportunities for cost savings Special projects as assigned Prioritize tasks to ensure that deadlines are met during the month end close process Comply with internal controls to protect the assets of the company Determine issues and/or internal control gaps to communicate to management
Other Duties as Assigned Position Requirements Formal Education & Certification Bachelor's degree in Accounting required Knowledge & Experience One+ years in financial accounting Thorough knowledge of G/L, A/P, and A/R Proficient use of Microsoft Excel Petroleum experience preferred Qualifications & Characteristics Ability to multi-task Detail oriented Time and task management skills essential Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision to meet deadlines Work Environment Hybrid Work Environment available once training is completed.
