Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled Desktop Support Specialist to provide exceptional technical support to a diverse user base, including local and remote clients. This role involves troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues, as well as supporting mobile devices and scientific applications. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills, excellent customer service abilities, and a solid understanding of Windows, MacOS, and enterprise network environments.
Key Responsibilities
•Provide prompt, knowledgeable, and professional customer support to local and remote users with varying technical proficiency.
•Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to software, hardware, operating systems (Windows and MacOS), and network connectivity.
•Perform installations, configurations, maintenance, and imaging of new systems.
•Support mobile devices on iOS and Android platforms.
•Setup and configure government-furnished equipment (laptops, phones) for international travel.
•Provide printer support, VoIP phone setup/troubleshooting, and scientific instrument support.
•Serve as an escalation point for complex issues and mentor team members.
•Collaborate with technical teams and escalate unresolved issues appropriately.
•Respond to incident and request tickets promptly, documenting all activities.
•Perform workstation setups, re-imaging, and compliance remediation.
•Train and mentor new staff to enhance team capabilities.
Required Qualifications
•3+ years of customer service experience in technical support.
•2-4 years of experience in application, scientific application, and instrument support.
•Proficiency in Windows 10 and Macintosh operating systems.
•Experience with network troubleshooting and re-imaging workstations.
Preferred Qualifications
•Expertise in PC/Windows and Macintosh support.
•Knowledge of iOS and Android mobile platforms.
•Experience with Active Directory, Office 365, and Microsoft Teams.
•Familiarity with Windows Firewall and full disk encryption tools.
•Understanding of enterprise network infrastructure, including Group Policies.
•Proficiency with scientific software and Adobe products.
•Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking and configuration management.
