JOB TITLE:
Sports Coordinator
REPORTS TO : Executive Director
FLSA TYPE : Non-Exempt, Hourly
JOB PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Sports Coordinator will be responsible for the administration and management of youth sports, adult leagues, and all sports specialty camps at assigned locations. Major emphasis and responsibilities must be in the areas of budget, facility, community relationships, program and staff quality and the positive approach to problem solving. This position serves as a member of the Y's Leadership Team. They will provide the community with sound programs in accordance with the YMCA goals and objectives while modeling, practicing, and carrying out the Y values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. Staff must strive to work cooperatively with fellow employees to achieve the goals and objectives of the YMCA.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (not a complete list):
Hire, train, and provide orientation for all sports staff including payroll, teaching techniques, guarding techniques, and emergency procedures Schedule all staff hours keeping in mind budgetary constraints and participant/staff ratios. Recruit, retain & train volunteers & staff for all seasons. Establish new program activities and expand program within the community in accordance with the Association strategic plan Respond to member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner. Secure and schedule athletic fields and facilities as needed Organize and conduct parent organization meetings Organize and conduct coach training and meetings Transport and set up equipment for games and practices Assume all other responsibilities as deemed necessary or assigned. Requirements
Required:
Must be 18 years old High school diploma or GED Associate's Degree or 2 years experience in related field Minimum 2 years of experience working in Sports Programming, managing multiple locations, managing multiple staff Proven ability to grow a sports program Current CPR/AED/First Aid/O2 Certification Volunteer or Staff supervision experience Knowledge of sports programming, marketing, and program implementation Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) Knowledge of budgeting & expense control. Excellent written and oral communication skills Bilingual - English/Spanish
